    Transalps use 525 chains too.
    .
On my DR650 I kept the 15 tooth front and grew the rear by 2 teeth instead.

I like 15/46 now after a while favoring 16/46 which is the same as 15/43.

I'll be going 15/43 on my next sprocket set as my standard gearing, with a 14 in my toolkit if required.

Mine was 15/44 when I got it. I felt it was working a bit hard on the road? Got a 16 on the front now and a 14 for when it gets tricky.

15/44 is pulling 4950 rpm at 110 kph and would pull to a theoretical 173 kph.
16/44 is pulling 4650 rpm at 110 kph.

    Stock 15/41 is 4600 rpm at 110kph.

    Max torque at 5000 rpm.
    Max power at 6000 rpm.

I keep riding my TT350 like a DR650 but it maxs out torque at 6000 and power at 7000.

    Must use more revs

all but the same as 15/44 = 2.93:1 final drive ratio (4950rpm)

    14/41 = 2.92:1 final drive ratio
the diffrents between the 2 ratios is less than 1/2 a tooth

I have found that the 14 tooth tames down pulses and makes it smoother than the 15 tooth mainly at the bottom end but it does make it nicer to ride.

Does anyone know if you can get 44T in 525 size?, we are going to run 14 / 44 on our trip (except the big long road runs 15/44) but can only get to 43T in 525

    Jesse does a steel 45t
    http://www.kientech.com/DR650ConvNst...rocketkits.htm
But a 15 on the front of that may be a bit dodgy and a 16 would require 2 more links.

14-15/43 should be sweet though and you can keep the stock chain.

Yeah saw those, want to keep with 44 as it will stay within the factory chain guide at the bottom, I have a 45T 520 here and it requires the removal of the bottom block in the guide.

I run 14/43 at the mo for adv riding and 15/41 with the motard wheels

Spose we could always us a 520 sprocket with the 525 chain, would that cause any drama?

We want to keep the gearing lower as we will be looking out the window so speed is not a big requirement and with the old girls luggaged up the lower gearing will make it easier for Ellen to start etc especially on uneven ground

You can get an adjustable chain guide, probably from Jessie again.

Anyone got a set of trailwings they've swapped out? Might be taking the DR on a long trip next month and don't want to destroy a good set of tkc80s on the highway
