my bikes a bit hard to start when cold,

always have to use the choke, even if sitting in a warm garage.

always takes a long time to get going, holding the starter in for a solid 10-15 seconds with NO throttle, usually dose it after 3 or 4 attempts to start.

Is this typical? Apart from the spark plug, what other things can I look at to fix this? Or is this normal starting behaviour?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

If mines been sitting a while, a couple of small blips on the throttle to get some fresh gas through, full choke, and she'll fire every time.

Fuel goes off real quick these days. With my old DRZ400, I'd often have to manually drain the carb if sitting for more than a week.

Yep. A couple of blips of throttle on the pumper carb and it's away. No choke, even in the winter.

I can only pull the choke on about 3mm anyway...

Pretty common complaint on all Suzuki`s that dont have a pumper carb.
Seems to take a lot of cranking to get the fuel sucked up into the carb air stream.

With a pumper carb as nordie says, 2 twists of the throttle and they fire into life straight away.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

ah, so its a fuel/carby issue. Not really much I can do there?

pete-blen, do you know what the % of wear running odds to evens is compared to odds to odds?
At the bottom of the page on gearingcommander.com it gives some comparisons between the different gearing sets you have entered.

Surprised he had one, as they dont officially import them to the UK... must have been looking on here before purchasing his grey import and decided it was a better choice than a KLR...

...wrong choice, the theives would have walked past the KLR...

As far as we can tell, it retards the ignition. But you can't even see the difference on a dyno.
    I removed mine.

I was going to remove mine but the reality is how often do you actually hit full throttle?
