    Soft Luggage Racks

I was undecided about which make of soft panniers to buy when Clint and Rosie recommended the Andy Strapz ones, based on a few years of good service from theirs. So I bought them and used them with good results on an overseas trip but now I want to fit them to my DR, so I need a rack. But here's the rub I dont really like the look of the Andy Strapz racks they look a bit spindly to me. The Wolfman ones look tougher and the shape is more pleasing to me. Anyone fitted Andy Strapz panniers to a Wolfman rack? I am going to need a rear rack as well, preferably one that has some grabrail capability. Any NZ options? Any recommendations?

Are you coming on the AKD Gravel Riders Coro ride this weekend? You could have a look at my Wolfman Racks and maybe do a test fit. Wolfman have just released a new generation of their racks which is what I have.

Also, got a pic of that Duc single tank?

With a bit of tweaking of the straps and clips, I imagine the andystrapz bags would fit onto most racks designed for soft bags. We've had ours on four different sets of home-made racks (all designed differently) without any trouble - although the bags sit a lot better if they don't sit too far below the bottom of the rack, so the side of the bag is well supported.
I can get some photos of my modified attachment points, if that would give you ideas of how the bags might be easily fiddled to fit onto a different set of racks.

Clint and I are off tramping this weekend, so won't be going on the coro trip.
If I get time this week, I'll get some photos of my luggage strap mods and post them up for you

    fitting lever protectors

Recently bought a DR650 and at the stage of adding a few goodies - screen, sump guard, luggage rack, bar risers so far and just about to add some lever protection in the form of Zeta protectors. Before I munt the throttle side I thought I'd ask for advice. What's the story with getting in to the bar end after removing the weight - there's a rubber washer and a solid threaded part in to which the end weight screws in to. Can anyone tell me how to remove this in order to replace with the Zeta screw and spreader device. Thanks in advance

Iirc you just loosen the screw on the end and that uncompresses the rubber bit allowing you to pull it out... You can usually fish the other bits out with wire if they're stuck inside

Hey Guys, just another thought for those that are looking at equipping their bikes with soft panniers, to eliminate the need for racks ect, consider looking at the "Coyote Giant Loop Bag". They sell for about $500NZ and need to be bought out of the States. I have however used one as a template, did some mods on the one I had made, and it fits and works a treat. I can have these made for $300NZ with a two week delivery. Just a thought anyway.

    Life is about having fun.

I use the cheap Oxford jobs. Just pull them forward onto the plastic side cover.

They expand out quite a way, and keep the weight low and forward.
