    Swing arm spools

Has anyone ever considered or installed these or similar?

There would need to be some drilling and tapping and maybe even some welding but....pros & cons?

    Thanks

Ummm....(excuse my ignorance)....but why would you need these? Isn't it just bling, and a DR is about as far away from blingy as you can get.

Nope, certainly not bling, I mean $17

I have them on the road bikes and they make storage simple with a paddock stand, no slipping and I am able to easily remove a wheel, lube a chain and even clean the wheel. I have more bikes than room sometimes and this would get them off the sidestand but still relatively moveable....but....there is no where to mount them so...drilling...tapping and maybe welding. Any takers?

This is the Cagiva but I have used bolts into the axle to hold it. The DR has a split pin in one end so that option is tricky.

Make some flat brackets for your current stand that slide under the swingarm to support it.

Have flat paddles for the paddock stand but the angle of the swingarm does not inspire confidence and the only place that was strong enough obstructed the axle nuts. Saw a thread on Thumpertalk, I think, while surfing tonight and it suggested welding a nut under the swingarm. Seems a plan but the welding will be trick with the swingarm in place.

    You have the US version?

The proper Kiwi DR has a locknut, not a castle nut & split pin.

My Girly on her DR200 often does better in the steep dunes than I do.

I may just remove the castellated nut and put a Nylock on at this stage, but I do think a set of bobbins would help with some tasks.
