Then you may have other issues. How old is the bike?

I lifted the needle 1 notch which was 1mm, it ran like shit. Went to a .5mm washer, runs great, with just snorkel removed

Hey my DR stopped this morning...?

My usually ridiculously reliable 650 cut out this morning on the way to work...
Felt like it ran out of gas,

    It did!
    Haha

Anyway, the point of this for those wondering is that I got just over 170kms to a std tank with the new Flatslide fitted (procycle kit), cut away airbox, Uni filter, and header weld ground down.

Better by 20 - 30kms than I used to get with the std BST carb. (all other mods the same) and so much more responsive, quicker than the old carb as well. It is the perfect mod for the DR650 - faster and cheaper to run

Yeah, just got in, been pushing since friday morning!
Nah, seriously, should have made that clearer, I only had to flick it on to reserve and I was away again.
I've never got much over 200kms to reserve even when stock But my riding involves quite a bit of stop-start through town stuff, a 1km blat on SH1, occasional wheelies, and mainly off-road when I get the chance to ride at weekends. Hardly ever cruise along, so that may explain it...

    14 Teeth.

Is the 14 tooth countershaft sprocket a DR650 part or is it made for another model, trying to get 1 as part of a chain and sprocket kit.

    Come in Nordie
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

    ...or Pikey...
He is going through something of a sprocket fetish at the moment and has found one from another model that he secures with 2 circlips instead of the bolt on plate, think he said KLR650, but I was busy looking at his new screen and top box the size of a caravan to remember the exact details!

Pikey really needs to make a couple of those screens.

    Errr well....
He's currently out of plastic, and I had to take the strip heater back to work.
He did make me a 50mm shorter version though - for hire fees of the heater you understand!, still needs a bit of "fiddling" to fit though... Got a bit of an idea to paint the inside of mine...
I also have a bit of plastic from the off cuts to make a headlight guard to match.(might not paint that though!
Hope to get some time in the next few weeks to have a play with the jigsaw, drill and spray cans, (never usually a recipe for motorcycle improvements!) then post up the results.

Keep bugging Pikey though, I can easily get him the heater again...

    Just order a front 14t sprocket for a DR650.

    They do a 14 and 15 in 525.

It's only when you go to 520 that you start mixing RGV250, DR650 <96 and DR750 bits...
