    Spare Front & Rear Wheels?

Anyone got a spare set of standard 21 & 17 inch wheels for a DR they want to sell?

new to dr650 - where to get stuff

hey just got a dr650 to replace my lovely but no longer with me klr.

can anyone suggest the best place to buy crap for it like
    - brush guards (it has plastic flaps at the moment)
    - engine guards (... ok. on my klr they were required to protect the fairing ... and i did go over the handlebards enough .. will see on the suzuki)
    - new seat (probably will just get a corbin but am worried a bit about the weight)
    - rear rack
    - and most importantly, above all else, where can i get a nice durable HDPE milk crate to strap onto that rack on the back - don't want to have to buy this from the US!

also if anyone from wellington is around any comments on wellington motorcycle's suzuki service -- though i'll probably stick with boyle kawasaki since they are great folk even though i am no longer with kawasaki.

    Maybe

I had a road set and dirt set for the DR but now my dirt set has a built in 350cc engine.

Procycle or Kientech are the places to shop.

The Corbin is a very heavy beastie, Procycle do other options.
    IMS tank.

    What colour milk crate?

You're turning it into a KLR.

    You need to detox first.

    first day

well i smashed in the side of my oil radiator. bike fell over and hit something.

    pfft.

i guess non-klr bikes are expected to be disposable.

also, surprisingly, it's got a strangely stiff feeling to it. i've felt this on a ttr as well. the klr you could flick around but these things you have to wrassle if you don't want to go straight. i guess that's a part of having a shorter bike?

but... it handled so much better at red rocks. it's so tiny in comparison. like a toy bike.

    corbins

hmm. not good to hear that corbins are heavy for dr650s because it was probably the best upgrade i did to the klr... rode from sf to LA to yosemite to SF on the stock seat and nearly lost the use of my lower body. but with the corbin - no longer any kind of problem sitting for any kind of time - even the 8hr auk-wellington run.

if the police only recovered the corbin and the milk crate i'd be much less unhappy.

Sargent (?) seats are pretty good I hear, there was a dealer selling them on trademe, about $600
I tried an airhawk but didn't like the way it disconected you from the bike.
If you were a proper KLRista you'd take to the DR seat with some old kapok an some ductape and call it fixed.

    Welcome to the DR fold!
-I have zeta hand guards fitted and some of their bars as well, the std ones are made of chocolate strength metal and sweep too far back anyway. Any other alloy type guards with bolt on plastic guards are good - try trade me or any off road dealer can get em.
-I was gonna say dont bother with engine guards (side bar type contraptions) and go for an alloy bash plate - I have a recycled road sign but you can get a proper one - again TM. there is a KBer who makes em - GPcustoms??? But seeing as you have already munted the oil cooler then maybe they're a good idea - I'm sure a local engineer could custom build some...?
-Std seat is ok I find - and will take just about any weight
    - Not sure about rear racks as I bungy my big tank on there - 5 litre plastic fuel can!

As for welly motorcycles, seems fine to me, I bought the bike from them and havent bought much else from them so I'm not the best to ask really. Most of my goodies have come from Procycle in the states (Carb, pipe) and they have been excellent.

    Have fun with the detox!
