    Hey

Before you start with the "use the search function" I have..

Just wonderin how much average cost of insurance per anum is on something like Slingshots gsxr250rr, or a early 90's cbr250rr? And do they take into account your driving record from other licence - car..

Any info appreciated, diff companys etc, good brokers u know
    thanks

    Some ideas

    Hey.

I've never had to claim from insurance (and yes, I'm touching copious amounts of wood!) I used Swann Insurance with my first bike, and STATE with my current bike, and never had any problems with either.

One thing I will say is, go with a provider that has 24/7 phone support. From memory, with my '87 Honda CBR250, Swann Insurance charged $42 per month (I was 22 at the time - completely clean record). Shop around though. Oh, I don't think the AA insure new riders, even on a full licence. And yes, as I understand it, they take into account your driving record (car included).

    Dave.

Not the kind of admission I'd like to make on *this* type of public forum, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Yeah I use them and it cost me about $120 for third party, fire & theft for 1 year. I thought that was bloody good.

Costs me $800 a year for my Sporty with AMI , I shopped around and that was the best I could get, (that's with house, hot-rod etc all insured with them) and that's with a clean recordand being old too!!

You need to spend some time on the phone, Rettun. The policy premium will vary quite wildly between companies, and also by your age, how long you've held a license, the model of bike (some companies will charge heaps to cover a sports 250 2-stroke), where you live and your garaging facilities. Some offer discounts for engine imobilisers, others don't.
Sorry - there is no easy answer to your question.

    Insurance

Try Eric Woods motorcycles in Christchurch - they act as agents for Vero insurance and I have heard good things about both prices and backup when the disaster happens.
