2 June ride... Taupo to Wangas

rode up to taupo from wangas on thursday.
sweet as ride... the paras are nearly fixed [no roadworks except for two lots that arent on the paras]
it seems that on section of road will collapse within time. its right with a washout, and is the same shape of the barrier surrounding that hole. the ground drops and then pops back up again. so just watch the washouts when you travel that way... if it does go, itll close the road for good, as it will take out the south bound lane.
[went up national park, and through the doc area]
interesting patch going through the road by the mountain... went around a corner and found myself fogged in... literally. hit the light to dip and then threw the hazards on. made it through safely though

returned today, via desert road. well... talk about rain! holy crap! had to stop a few times to warm my fingers on the engine, and then to change my sunglasses to clears... couldnt see shit between the rain, the fogging on the inside and the dark tint.
lost feeling in all 4 fingers of my right hand... ick. never again.
got soaked to the skin and then some. good ride though. windy as hell... felt like i was standing still on the way home.
found a turn off that lead to fielding... that was a nice road too!

is the desert road jinxed for anyone else? today was my second trip on it, and its cost me 2 speedos! the speedo went on the 06 gn paeroa 06, and then today on the virago. grrrrr.

Speedo cable - Check that it hasnt come undone at the bottom..... mine did that.
Easy to fix.... you can fix it yourself.... if you have to replace the cable...

    hey buddy

yeh, they are better than they were 2 months ago. just two big patches of works that are before the paras start. the road of the actual paras is nice, except for the washouts. last time is was essentially 30k the whole way.

ill never understand how people can happily go 100k or more through there!
