(sorry to all Ducati owners, but this cracks me up )
Maybe more to do with it getting pinched or availability of replacement parts, don't think insurance usually covers breakdowns maybe you were thinking warranty?

Anyways for me; kiwibike + ducati 900ss = $595 ($250 excess inc trackday cover)

    kiwibike

they did great job getting me cover at about half what my home,contents,cars(2)company charged,i put the bike on my package until i'd sussed out bike cover from guys who specialise in it,dave and donna are great, nothings a problem, they even do auto payments, last year was lump sum payment, this year (swann who they got me with)they have premium payable monthly, extra $25 per year, also cover for track if needed, they are brokers so try to get the best deal.i've sussed out jetboy about roadside assist, and bike policy,he couldn't get anywhere near my premium, and said so,didn't try to sway me at all, even said without having my insurance with him roadside would be too expensive.i've got aa cover for car so upgraded it to aa plus which includes the bike. mind you when you get old it helps sometimes.

    Insurance

Yamaha R1 $10-11K Comphrensive, 3 years ago AMi $585 (with house cars etc all in deal). Last year State $610, high excess. This year NAC (national auto club) $507 with only $750 theft excess and 24hr roadside.....Difficult choice at times, just got to shop around.

I've just signed with classic, all our household, car etc is with Tower, who are very good with claims but wanted twice as much as classic to cover the bike.

I have been told Tower don't want to cover bikes ( due the risk ), you would think they would just say so, instead of ramping up the premiums, or maybe they've just heard of my piss-poor riding.

I am finally back and had a reply from kiwibiker Insurance Brokers and have basically said they have found a company that will in sure the monster for $540 a year which I think is rather reasonable.... What do you think?

Get a quote from jetboy before you go with kiwibike. His quote absolutely blitzed kiwibike's when it came time to renew mine and the excess was less than half too.

It's not just the premium cost which needs to be considered, check out the providers claim history before you commit, any premium is expensive if the insurance company does not perform when they are most needed.
