Went up the hill this morning, bit windy to be really enjoyable.

Passed a RSV on my way up and coming back down, I waved both times and he never waved back. Maybe he is one of them 'arrogant w**kers' we are talking about.

... I dont think i have actually met anyone yet who is an arrogant wanker..... but will keep a look out. Apprently there are few on the hill, I am going up there tomorrow to suss it out.

I used to hate it how, in my learner nana slow days, the Welly crew would be so arrogant that they'd always wait for me to catch up to them at intersections and various stops. I used to arrive and they'd wave "hi" at me, and how we'd all leave at once... so arrogant.

How they'd come up, introduce themselves, and talk to me about my bike, being supportive, and giving me riding tips.

How they'd text me when there were impromptu rides.

How they'd invite me out to the pub afterward.

Oh, and how they'd WAVE at me when I was riding through town, and anywhere else they saw me.

And ESPECIALLY how they have bi-weekly (and sometimes more) open rides which anybody can attend.

All this... so arrogant.

Due to all this arrogant behavior, I became an arrogant bastard who exhibits all of the traits above (just so that I could "fit in"). I especially enjoy waiting for newbie riders to catch up at intersections. So arrogant.

i find this topic really interesting. im pretty new to bikes i only picked mine up about 2 months ago. since then ive only ridden by myself as i wanted to sort out a few basics before i go on group rides. i would have to say that about 99% of other bikes i see wave out or give me "the nod". seem like a pretty good bunch to me.

Well thats all good, I mean who really gives a toss?! All I wanna know is how fast they are reputed to fly up that Rimutuka Hill. Something like 13 minutes to the top from the gassy in U Hutt? Is it just a urban myth (13mins?) or do they corner so well cos they're used to 100kph cross winds! Or is it the tail-wind from the southerly???
