We bloody did. It was called, English, Maths, and Science. We had holidays most days.

School holidays over here mean no school run so less traffic on the roads. Much better for bikes.

Don't I know it! I reckon the kids back to school puts about 15 minutes on my journey time, if not more. Battling past all those mums in 4x4s, taking their little darlings two streets away is a pain in the backside.

On the bright side, it will be Half-Term soon, so we'll get a couple of weeks without them once again.

School holidays, What are they!
Some of us have no idea what school holidays are just another reason for the kids to learn something different. We plan family recreation times away when we want them not when dictated to. Some of the kids may spend some time at grandma's in Rotovegas. My oldest daughter is off to Christchurch to man a bookstall for us at a home educators conference, then head off to Dunedin for a music festival with a friend. Hey it may just be me and the Mrs for a week fitted in between shift work and our shop hours. At least I'll get to ride the bike to work and down to the shop on my days off. I need to be in the shop during the holidays to keep an eye on those little ratbags who think that they have a right to our stock without having to purchase it.

Yeah, I did the homeschooling thing with the older 3 kids, but never had anyone to give me a break you are really fortunate/blessed to have a willing grandmother nearby to give you the break you and your wife need and deserve. I haven't had a break for 21years!!, so you can appreciate how much the tokaanu rally means for me and Pete!!, roll on oct 16th!!

I went into town again today ( 105kms return) and the bike went really well, I've had some issues with her in the past 2 weeks and so it's really great to get on and ride and feel that she's reliable, the weather despite gloomy predictions c/ the met service, turned up trumps and so I went down and joined Pete at the wharf where he's servicing a boat, and we had coffee, all thoughts of impending school holidays had left my mind when the cell phone rang, and it was the 5th form dean, wanting to know why my boy wasn't in class to sit his exam, I rang sonny boy, only to be told, he couldn't see the point in being at school today!!, needless to say he went back to school forthwith, now I will have to put up with dark looks and evil mutterings from him for the next two weeks. Still the ride was a good one and who knows I might even do it again tomorrow.

You really need to get that boy his own bike.

Only problem then will be explaining a 6(?) year old on a minimoto overtaking MY into the hairpin.

Hi, hmm, the boy is at gbhs, and I have to go past ormond whichever way I go into town, I sometimes go thru makaraka, but depends on whether I have trucks or slow vehicles in front of me, otherwise I go down past hexton.

Oh I forgot to remove that when I sold it, I sold it a few months ago, a young fulla bought it and loves it, which is nice, it's always out and about, and it's good to know that someone loves her, I found it a bit gutless and wheelbarrowish really, but it is good as a commuter for someone that needs one to go short distances on. Very economical to run.
