I'm at home today recovering from a flu which hit me on Sunday so I thought I'd add another small report on my 1000 miler.

By the end of last week I'd managed to clock up over 900 miles, most of it done within a week of getting my new bike. I'd passed most of the critical milage/rpm limititations, meaning that I was no longer limited to the lower rpm restrictions.

On the Friday, I only had about 40 miles to go before the big 1000, so on Saturday Sarahtvet and I decided to go for a quick jaunt up over the track and thereabouts to finally finish it off.

So off we went, just enjoying the bike, and it was also a good chance to introduce Sarah to the bloody fantastic New Zealand roads. Sarah being a new arrival to NZ and all

So team Britain passed through Pahiatua and headed north where the miles rapidly counted down (or up) towards the 1000. Right outside, you guessed it, the Tui Brewery

Ignoring the beauties frolicking in the river we decided to forgo infiltrating the main compound to nick a few crates, and opted instead to take a celebratory pic of an equally beautiful sight - the bike that is

So how come you're on miles when we're a kilometres country? Can't you push a button and change it on the digital display?

You had a good ride on Sunday too of course.
    Cheers

Thanks roberty, it's been amazing to be able to own a bike like this. I can't wait to get out on her as often as I can now

That was a great ride on Sunday merv, I'm still buzzing and I'm sure others are too

The manual makes no mention of a metric option although I believe that it can be done via the EMS. I like the imperial readouts and am quite used to it having driven all over Britain and the US. And it somehow makes the whole experience more 'British' which is fitting I reckon.

Actually James, I think a Harley would look good in the shed about now. That would help keep the miles down and save on maintenance costs eh Better not tho, I'm already way out of my financial comfort zone as it is lol.

Really though, the amount of attention the Daytona attracts has been a real eye opener. I've had so many people stop to admire her, been whistled at by girls in the street, had small children pulling their parents towards her, and lot's of guys reminincing about their biking days

What beauties in the river?!! Too fixated on the bike and the speed I guess, no change there then. Pahiatua has to be one of my favourite places in NZ already, gets better every time we do it!!!

Thanks for a weekend of pure bike heaven

dunno about the weather this weekend.... a weekend without riding?!??!

I don't know, want to be home before dark and don't like getting wet, thought you Kiwis were tough!!!!!!

Only joking, sounds like it is going to be foul and it is easy to say when you are hiding behind the guy on the front

I guess having come from the UK, especially Devon, I would never get on a bike if I avoided precipitation.

Maybe 86 can get his rags out and clean that girl

You could go look at the new bike and take mrs vod to try a first one

Hope to catch up before the 10th!!!!
