Great I've only got 177 miles (283 km) before the 500 mile service. I'm thinking maybe Waiouru via Vinegar Hill, which should allow plenty of rev changes. Although looking out the window it looks decidedly dark up that way, but whatever, I will get those miles done Luckily I have spare gloves. Standby for pics

Gold does has a certain ring to it doesn't it

So I'd probably miss that one, how about a pie from the Waiouru Caltex instead?

P.S. I believe that the reason I didn't see the rocks was that the headlights, which are supurb, are designed in such a way as to not throw the light directly in front of the bike. Which is exactly what you want, as your gaze should be directed into the middle and far distance. And this is what the headlight design achieves very well. However, there is a distinct 'dark spot' immediately in front of the bike, and I did not pick up on the fact that the rocks were in the middle distance until too late.
    tsk tsk tsk

what is the shop gonna say when you bring it in after 500 miles and you've alreday scraped it???!!!

thats a bit of a pisser mate but doesnt sound like a major - the trumpy!! good report....looking forward to the next one to keep me entertained while i'm stuck at work....

I know, embarrasing eh! Still Jonno, it could have been a lot worse. If I'd been banked over I'd say I'd have been off for sure. Now THAT would have been bad!

Thanks mate, yes, I'd hate to crash it. Apart from out of the blue things like last nights rocks on the road, I'm a pretty conservative rider and am always mindful of my limits and the conditions. I've seen enough bins to have a healthy respect for them. You'll have to get out on an Ashurst ride sometime

It surely is and I'm looking forward to it immensely. And the bikes booked in for the 500 mile service Thurs morning. Only 500 miles to go after that, which will be easier now she's able to be run at higher rpm

    tee hee

Rightiho, I'm just about ready to go. I'll do a quick pre ride inspection, lube the chain, check the fluids and the fairing again just in case, then into it!
