    You can't believe everything....

    ...you read.

    I got (another) new helmet.

Seeing as I have a number of adventure rides coming up (another factory ride!), and I'm sick of washing the dust out of my road helmet liners, I lashed out on the new Arai Tour Cross.

Fortunately I didn't read this reveiw of it before I did, because it might have turned me off:

    'Noise the dealbreaker.'

Chris even said 'Forget about the iPod with that on', when I picked it up.

Guess what. On my mellon it's the quitest full face in that collection. Quieter than the Viper and the X-Spirit (which are about even) and even slightly better than the X900.

You can feel the visor in the wind - not a prob - but you can feel it - and it does have a different noise to the others, but no dealbreaker. Schweetness indeed.

The Davida open face is quietest at legal speeds.

Posted in general to make this point.

You have to try it for yourself.
Even if (gratutitous third person) Big Dave says.

I've led such a sheltered life... I didn't know you could get off road helmets with road visors. That's what it is essentially isn't it?
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

No Clivoris - the one telling you the interior of the beehive can be ridden like the wall of death is real.

Sweet. That's one of my favorites. Much friendlier than the one that tells me that Jason Gunn would look fetching in a camisole.

When you get old and die (which is probably imminent, seeing as you ride a Harley you must be a pretty hoary old bugger), write me into your will for the Davida open face? Goggles too?

You need to come adventuring with us. Once I started wearing glasses I gave up the dirt helmet and goggles because even though I could wear my glasses under one pair of the goggles I have it was a bit of a pain really.

Being a tightarse though I got us the GRex helmets though I tried the Arai but balked at the price.
    Cheers

Is it still clean...? Mine is noisy, but I've never tried it with an iPod (I don't have one).

As you know, I rarely ride without one.

I think the noise thing must come down to the shape of the cranium.

I always wore ear plugs anyway, but I've had a walkman in my hat since about 1980 whan the first FM radio only jobs were the size of a small PC.

Got a few bugs on it - rode out to Muriwai for stretch on saturday.

Can you tell me what Corey's last name is?

Got an HJC CL-XS from Sawyers prior to going down south Q/B weekend. Seems pretty good, facesheild whistles a bit if you turn your head sideways.

there is a review of it here http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motor...met/hjc/cl-xs/ which to me is fairly accurate. I didn't have any problems openin the sheild with gloves on while riding.

    Ok for $300
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Glad you like it, Dave. I tried one, and was not impressed. But that was me.
