Unhappy Me bike got stolen (Bulls, 11 June)

As I'm writing this I'm feeling a bit empty.

My GN got stolen from the footpath in Bulls. Disc brake locked. Public place - main street of Bulls, SH1, 10m from the cop shop, opposite Subway).

I knew there was a risk of some fucken chumps setting it on fire, slashing it or stealing it.

Insured for theft, $600 excess. Will maybe get $1500 if I'm lucky. Reported it to the cops. Watch this space.

My big bro (Steam from KB) luckily has a spare bike (the Apocalypse) and is letting me borrow it till I sort my shit out. Thanks big bro!

Boring details follow to save on answering questions posted later:

Was planning on riding to Rotorua for a tournament on Friday night, but a SLUTTY crosswind (Metservice said 80kmph) was making me furious and scared. I imagined my dad reading the paper about a biker crossing the centre line. I'm tall (6'5") and skinny, the bike has a windshield, and I have a large R-Jays bag on the back too, so I was a light bike with a big sail in a big wind. Not cool.

I stopped at one point to unleash a fucken verbal barrage on the weather. Man I psyched out. A good couple of minutes it went on for. Even swore at the trees, a letterbox, just plain old gravel. Fuck you gravel! Crappy letterbox! And I can be a potty-mouth too.

Got to Bulls, asked the i-site about the weather prospects. Not cool. Another 5 / 6 hours in that weather was a) a nightmare to think about, b) dangerous and c) potentially avoidable.

So I made some calls, and a mate was going to the same tourney and was half an hour behind me with an empty car.

Now just a case of finding a place to park it. Talked to the nice people at the BP station, they offered to put it inside their garage (thanks to them!) but I was passing back through late Sunday evening. Talked to a woman at the end of the intercom at the Bulls Police Station re parking it infront of their building. We concluded that best I didn't incase they park there.

So I parked it just to the right of the lamppost in the pic below (the cop shop is the non-descript building left background, photo taken from by Subway), on the footpath with the disc lock on. Good luck bike.

On my return on the Sunday evening, no bike. Gutted but not surprising. Spoke to the lovely lady at the house it's directly outside, she saw it there on Sat night but not Sun morning. And beer boxes were thrown into her yard.

So at this very moment I think some fucken dishonest yocals with a trailer are using my bike as a trash machine. Gutted.

Yeah have learned my lesson. Better to be a little less secure behind a building but seen by far less people. Thought about that. Made a call. Gutted.

Unfortunately not - just the general run of the mill GN. It does have a BMW screen attached (or did, as I'm sure you'd take that off straight away as to not fit the exact description of my bike.) See pic.

Actually, just thought - anyone regularly ride through there? Or live real close? I didn't check the surrounding streets, just incase drunk kids lifted the front wheel off the ground and walked it around just for fun.

Bugger about the bike mate, pity you couldn't contact some people here, there are KBers and friends everywhere who could have stored it for you. I even know of someone in Bulls who would have done it for you, but that doesn't help now I guess.
Good luck getting it back, I hope the bastards who took it get what they deserve. Also, check the 'market value' thing on your insurance, get a couple of quotes for replacement for the insurance company to decide on.

That suck big-time dude, hard to comprehend we're in the same country at times like this.

I hardly bother to take the keys out of my Harley when it's parked down this end of the country, only bought a disc-lock in the last year or so and only use it when the hog is in my gargre.

GN or not, it should be sacred.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
