I pick up more strays that way!! *calls out* "Hey make up another place at the table Ma! We's got another one!"

No seriously all the best - just be careful out there in the wet, especially around idiot cage drivers who don't understand simple things like stopping distances and reduced visibility.

+1. I blame Dulux for ruining my planned Sat. morning ride. And he doesn't sound like an arrogant wanker, so he wont fit in with the locals at all.
Imagine the fall out if we had a nice guy in our midst?

Welcome anyway. It's always good to hear of someone giving motorbikes a go and that first bike buzz.
Take it easy Dulux, maybe skip the wet roads today or head north of Poririua where it looks like blue sky and sunshine.

Congrats on the new ride, and welcome to KB. You will need strength, fortitude and patience galore to get through the coming challenges, and you will need to practice your riding too! This place is nuts, but great fun, ask about a mentor in your area as this really helps get your skills up.

Good on ya mate. Enjoy the new ride, and no doubt we'll see ya out there some time.

In case no ones told ya yet, don't look where you are going - look where you want to go!

just got back from my first ride - to a friends house to show her my new toy, into town to get some waterproof gear cos i was soaked and then back home (the long way and via the twisty route so i could practice my turning).

It was cold, dark and wet, the rain pouring out of the heavens and i was soaked through. So all in all one of the best bloody days since i was a kid! haha.

Great fun and even got my first wee 'nod of acknowledgment from a biker on a big beasty riding in the opposite direction up Aro St

looks like its clearing up now too so might even get a wee trip out to ohiro bay!

have to go change my undies now.

    All ze best.

    Talking

got out to Ohiro bay - with the missus driving ahead in the car - took a wee photo but unfortunately cant upload it as the buggers who broke in an stole my imac last week also stole the camera cable O.o

it was great fun and i got up to the mighty 70 kph lol.
did have one we scary moment though, coming round the bay and suddenly the wind came at me as i was turning a corner and it threw me off for a sec - was able to keep going for a bit but it got to the stage where i was just feeling a little bit uncomfortable with the rain and the wind blowing me from the sides so i turned round and will tackle the rest another day when its less windy and rainy.

but all it all was great fun, came home via brooklyn and did a tiki tour of brooklyn and aro valley for half an hour. home now for a big cuppa tea to celebrate

fun fun fun in the ...erm...rain.

Good stuff mate! You're gamer than I am, too cold for riding for me today! The wind can be a bit unnerving to begin with, but you do get somewhat more used to it, especially living here in Welly!! You'll find the wind's not so much of an issue once you move up to a heavier bike too, the little Ginny's are notorious for getting blown about! Keep up the good practice work!
