I'm guessing a bit as I haven't seen the film footage only heard a little from others have said who did see the footage but I think he was following the van too close and the van swerved to miss the 4x4 at the last second and managed to do so but the motorcyclist went straight into the back of it. He may have been going down trying to avoid it before he hit it though.
