My read as a buyer is also that if there is a big price differential is that it's the distributor, I actually got a bit of a shock when I was in the states last time, alot of things were similar pricing ( if not higher, eg knee guards ), there are exceptions like Renthall Twin Bars ( just try & get those home though, damn things didn't fit in my bag ), but it defies logic that it's the shops who are doing the gouging, the kiwi website pricing is to competitive compared with Australia web sites for instance.
I'm not sure about anyone else, but I can live with 20-25% extra, after all there is GST & you do get local support etc, but in the case of the Leatt's it sounds more like 250-300% extra, which is crazy, it's way to easy now to bypass "local" shopping regulations & you create a chicken & egg, you keep the prices up due to low volume & get low volume because so many get the product from overseas.
