    Congrats

On passing your full licence. And in the rain of all things. It has been pouring down in the Hutt today. Whenever I am in the car and see fellow bikers on the road/motorway, i think - How do they do it? Anyways I am getting my motorcycle licence so it will probably be me one day too.

Dodger whats it like riding the Hyosung 250? Is it a good learners bike. The guys at TSS motorcycles showed me a few and I was a bit scared being a chick and the bike looks quite big compared to the Suzuki GN250.

I am thinking of getting a Yamaha Scorpio 225cc once I have my licence. But will soon find out once I test drive them. I think its just the thought of having to lean down rather than sit up? Does that make sense.

    Why is that??
May be cheaper, no written paper to sit, no waiting time..

I have also got my licence from Raro, thats why I decided I wanted to get a Motorbike - But am still sitting all the tests here in Lower Hutt. Only because driving in Raro isn't has hectic as driving where there actually is a lot of traffic. Plus the Raro locals don't even wear protective gear - jandals as boots..lol...

I like it and find it's a good size, I've been pillion once with a mate, so it's capable of carrying two 100kg+ guys with no real issues. I feel it has more power than the GN250's that I've ridden, and also seems more stable (maybe due to the size)
My wife tried sitting on the Hyosung, and wasn't able to touch the ground, so that may be an issue for some people.
For a cheaper alternative the Yamaha Scorpio looks like a good bike, and would prob be a better buy over the GN250.

Talk to the guys at TSS, it's a great store and they really go out of the way to help.
Once you get your bike (and good gear) you will find that Rain isn't a problem.. it's the wind that can be a real prick

As far as I'm aware it's a 1 year warranty (why are they 2 years in Aus??)

12 months or 10000km, whichever occurs first according to warranty booklet, was wondering if maybe you had been advised differently - guess now im over the 10K mark I may look at doing my own services etc - with the help of mentor of course.

    hmmmm,
Will have to check that one out next time I'm at TSS.

I'm to lazy to service myself.

With regards to my full test, also just realised they never did the vesicle check (rego/warrant/lights etc) before we started either.

A workmate went for his full a few weeks ago. He's been on a restricted for about 7 years and finally got around to sitting the full, borrowed a bike and rocked up to VTNZ.

The borrowed bike (from a dealer) was not roadworthy as the front brake light sensor wouldn't operate. Instant fail, he wasn't even allowed to go and get another bike to use. He's pissed off for not checking that sort of thing himself and has to pay again ...

The bike is the "town bike" as far as licence tests go, my guess is that the tester has seen it many times (I sat my restricted on it), and apparently it was dropped a few days before my mate used it, snapping the brake lever. Another one was installed but the light switch mechanism was rooted.

I'm planning on doing my "Scratch and Win” today or tomorrow.

Currently I’m riding around on a 50cc red scooter, but will be moving up to a Hyosung 250 Comet sometime in the next few weeks (with a loaner of a 150cc bike from a mate in the middle)
Doesn't time fly when you're having fun.....

    Heads Up and Enjoy

Thanks BB1, for some reason that makes me feel old.
I still use that 50cc scooter.

Although I have a loan of my mates bright yellow 85 Hilux for the next 4 months, so I'm currently using that to terrorise Stokes valley.
