Who wouldn't be pissed off at people like that.
"When in Rome, do as the Romans do" is a very appropriate quote.
Existing culture: Culture or ancient culture, all i see in modern culture about ancient culture is all about War. I don't have anything against war, but if you take a look at domestic violence. There are plenty of natives making fun of ancient culture. "When in Rome"? As for modern culture in general, isn't that all about alcohol and sex. They shouldn't do as "the Romans do" but..
learn the native lingo: I think that's a bit bullshit, learn English not any of "this ahh, bro cuz cuz wst cyde" but they may be forgiven, because "when in Rome".
Just get on the doll: That's just horrible, but "when in Rome", maybe it isn't the immigrants fault.
So how do i feel about immigrants? they aren't any worse than the natives, however their recent increase is to blame the property issue on.
I think the comparison of a house and country is flawed. However, the letter has proven a point.

i think the origional post was somthing interesting, however i also believe that if u walk through my local shops you wont see one white kiwi.
and i guess its good that the french didnt get here first or there wouldnt be maoris today.
Yeah but... there's a big difference between conquest and integration. The example given (post 1) is a gross over simplification implying the resources of a single household be diverted to a person wanting them in a manner that is very burdensome to the individual.
Even at it's purest form that argument doesn't hold at a national level unless a proportionate number of immigrants was to arrive at once (let's say 25% of a nations population - assuming a household size of 4 people).
That letter was a shit stir designed to get a bite - and looky looky it did.
The closing line "Why can't people see how ridiculous this is"... because it was presented with a deliberatly provocative bias, and when provoked, logic and reason falls out of people's heads. The rednecks come out and start shouting and before long it's an adrenaline fuelled shouting match where either side would be hard pressed to actually cite any of the facts originally presented.
2c poorer... yet again

And I want to add that my ex gf is Chinese, and she has to pay tax just like everybody else, has to pay yearly for a new visa (which is required that she also get a signed doctors certificate, and x-rays - both of which cost her over $100 each), as well as her student fees being $10,000 more per year then someone who has citizenship or residency. It recently cost her $3000 just to sit a single NCEA credit that she needed to get her degree. A SINGLE module.. thats hardly anything. In high school, for example, that would be maybe two weeks of studying poetry before moving onto formal writing in an english class!
A lot of that money is going towards paying for the health of NZ citizens and similar.
Luckily she gets residency IF she can find a job once she gets her degree. But it would have cost her a good $50,000 or more for it all up. And her parents paid for a lot of that. And to put things in perspective, she earns more in one weekend working as a nurse aid then her dad earns full time in a month.
I think that is extremely unfair for her. It certainly made things difficult for us when she had to pay $100 just to get some pescription nasal spray for her hayfever and we then cant buy a new fridge, or she can't leave the country incase it effects her reapplication for her visa (again.. no vacation). Dont even get me started on the legal hub bub if you have kids with someone who's here on a visa!
I think it's even more unfair if there are people illegally here getting health checks and such subsidized like any citizen would, as comparatively my ex gf has worked hard for what she has and should at the very least get some help paying doctors fees.
But then also on that note, my family had a fair bit to do with helping settle refuges from the Tampa into NZ. My aunt, who is a high court judge, was on the board that decided what was to become of them when Australia told them to go away. My mum and I, helped settle a family here - she still regularly goes over to their place and tutors them and helps the younger ones with their homework. I have less to do with them now, but previously gave one some guitar lessons and helped sort out some things, and also helped them load firewood on more then one occasion. I think they deserve all that they have gotten, especially the education that they are now getting. I wish I could have my pool table that I gave them back though haha
