Rattling off a corner in Raglan Part II with piccies

Okay, as per Crashe sez... "Piccies please!" So finally got around to looking at the damage my poor little ol'Hornet has suffered. I've got pictures of my crashed gear in the Bike Gear thread ... cuz that's where they should go! --> http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...22#post1115122

Well, with a little trepidation this arvo, I set about giving my ride a good going over (ooer! ) and was internally wincing about the damage I would find (it's always easy to think how bad things are ... but when I think of how worse things could have been ... meh ... )

It's with the usual embarrassment I post these piccies up ...

Pic 3 shows where I lost the throttle grip and had the throttle sleeve smashed up ... no brake lever either! Still managed to get home with the nub of the front brake lever and just enough sleeve to keep the gas gas going!

And this is when I took it out, gave it a good wash and some TLC here and there... The clocks are a little wonky, but nothing that can't be fixed (good time to get those chromed ones now! )

Scratching on the right muffler can ... will need to get those out ... and a dent on the inside of it where the licence plate and can rolled onto each other! Quite amazing how it wrapped it like an opened sardine can!

Pic4 shows some scratch and scrape damage on the cover ... but nothing that can't be fixed. Some paint scrapes on the rear tail cowling and a small one down the side of the fuel tank.

The rear brake lever is a bit out on the pisstangle, nothing a good pipe and leverage won't cure... but isn't it funny how mud ends up in the strangest places?

All things considered Gi , the hornet doesnt look too bad. Bit of glue , some metal work and the odd brake lever and it'll be sweet.

ouch Gi.... make sure you clean and dry out those clocks properly. And make sure they are water tight again, else you'll have lots of problem in the wet.

Looks more like a lot of small dings and scrapes rather than anything major, so that's some consolation. At least we all know you'll fix her up lovingly and properly! I'm impressed you managed to ride it home with that puny little stump for a front brake lever! Would have been hairy if you had an emergency braking situation though. Glad you're alright! Were you as grubby as the bike?!

Actually that little puny stump had enough for me to do normal braking with it My normal nanna riding style however means I rarely have to use the brakes ... nice and easy does it!

Yes. I was grubby. As grubby as a huhu grub grubbing in a grubby grub fashion in a rotting tree stump!

No worries - ebay and the innernet world of wide shopping has seen my credit card going on a binge campaign!

Carbon fibre, blingy bling bits, new bits, new old bits, new new bits ... and ... you get the idea! By the time I get finished with it, it'll be more like a 2007 250 model than a 97!

Och, blardy typical big'yin! It was fine! 'cept for the fine, covering of mud and dirt (still need to get it out of the finer lines on the seat) funnily enuff... I was talking to Sleepr who bought a 250 Hornet and helping him out with it, mentioned if he ever needed his seat to be recovered I knew just the people!

He wondered why I needed my seat recovered... 40,000+kms will do that to my poor little ol'Hornet I sez! Plus I'm a big, heavy git and obviously need to cut down the porkage so it doesn't have to strain to get up hills (oh, wait for it.... you need a V-twin laddy! )

I'll probably come and see about the next covering when I've clocked up 100,000kms on it!
