Woman riding around the world -- on a 250cc Yamaha

I read this on a site completely unrelated to biking at all, and was quite surprised to see the Advrider link. Take a look at the map, then read about it. Absolutely amazing.

OMG, what a bloody legend! 5 years on the road on a 250, $10 a day for food and lodging.
Killed her first bike in 3 years, brand new to unrebuildable!

That is one tough determined lady!
According to the map though she didn't do NZ, what a shame.

AFAIK she's still going, that Advrider thread is current. Although she seems to be heading well north, probably won't be back down this way again.

There's some amazing photos in there. Some interesting ones of the bike, too -- there's one of her rims towards the end, scary stuff.

    One can only dream.

She is a legend. Truly inspiring that is - sounds like she could pootle my arse off! Now that's something that is truly "the long way around" ... I'll definitely keep checking back on her progress hopefully!

Big ups to Xerxes for finding this little nugget of pure biking gold.

    Remarkable.

Of course, since she's not riding a ginormous BMW with a full film and support crew in attendance, she's "not doing it right"...

$10 a day is pretty damned impressive, too. Really needs to be someone really rich with a few million sitting in the bank and a name that bankers would happily float a hefty loan to...

    Great lady, very inspiring!

Wasn't it sad though, that the Americans basically overwhelmed her with emails and support, so much so that she had to remove her email and go under the radar somewhat.

Everywhere she went, bikers were trying to organise rides to go and meet her and escort her or hold huge potluck dinners. Which would have been nice for the first time, but pretty grating after that . . . sounds like it was turning in to a royal tour.

    Well meaning, but over enthusiastic.

    Thumbs up

Check out this woman, who even made it to New Zealand, during her travels around the world on her BMW.
