Adventure Assault No 3 - Ride options?

Some ride options. Could this be turned into a poll?

#1 Ride the King Country. Stay at Awakino.

#2 Ride the Turakina/Rangiteki. Stay at Taihape.

#3Ride the Kaweka/Kaimanwas. Stay at Taihape.

#4 Ride the Ureweras. Stay Waikerimoana.

#5 Ride the upper Coromandle.
Any other destinations welcomed.

1, 2 and 3 all sound good just because they are closer to home, but I am not sure what the riding is like in those areas.

Righto, I can easily organise another Motu-Waikaremoana ride.

I'm now based at Rotoiti, there's plenty of room for any strays that want to stay there Fri night.

Then on Saturday off via the highway & a few backroads to Opotiki & on up the Motu, beers @ the Matawai pub then into the hills to the salubrious shearers quarters of Journey's End Station.

On Sunday head for Wairoa via some backroads then on through the Waikaremoana road. If we make really good time we could then loop south via the Waipunga to the Napier-Taupo. Any of the crew that don't want to ride home Sunday night could stay in the 'hut' at Reporoa.

Now all we need is a date, 4/5 August perhaps?

Can you do a dual sport tyres route - or do we need knobs on.

I think these rides need to stay in the "not too difficult" sector. This allows for two up riding, and those who are quite new to off road/gravel.
The last ride was an excellent example of team work and consideration.
These rides need to be about fun and adventure. (blood and guts, all out tracks would scare many off).
Big Beemers, Dual Sports etc are the target group.

Accommodation needs to be comfortable and reasonable.
With regards to a time, I think Sept- November, allowing events like the Cold Kiwi etc to pass, and hopefully the weather may settle(Tui moment).

Yep, absolutely, the Motu-Waikaremoana route I'm proposing is easily doable on any adv bike with any sort of dual purpose tyre. It's all gravel roads, the Motu is about as rugged as a 'road' gets before you call it a 4x4 track but it's been ridden on a Harley Road King & done by my sister on her 1st adv ride so it ain't too bad.

The accomodation at Journey's End is really good, you'll just need a sleeping bag & something for breakfast. Last time we rode through there my friends Ann & Rob the owners invited all 7 of us to dinner & we had a great feed, otherwise we can have a meal at the pub on the way in or a cook up at the shearers quarters.

I'm easy on other dates apart from 11/12 Aug.

Motu, Waikaremoana sounds good to me, I just have to have sufficient brownie point earning time before being allowed out again (the flood in the basement this weekend while I was at Whangamomona didn't really help my cause).
I would probably make it a 3 day event to allow time to get back comfortably, possibly coming back to Jafa central via king country roads. Tri-boy, your only allowed to come if you stop picking fights with everyone.

Unless it was middle of summer we would rather stay somewhere warm, eg a pub. But open to suggestions.

Fun and adventure, exploring new areas, meeting and making new friends is what we are after. We are happy to take some time off work to explore places further afield.

You maybe trying to be funny, I am not sure as I dont know you

If you dont like what you read about our trip planning then I would suggest that you don't come, therefore no need to make comments such as you have been doing all day.
