Since the Coromandel is coming second in the polling, someone could step up to the plate & organise a ride up there sometime after MMMMM, go on, you know you want to!

A great feature of Coromandel is that those without adventure rigs can hire them from Coromoto in Whitianga.

    Cheers

There's a very large ego on the loose round here somewhere......

Stalks off with extra large butterfly net....

Gimme a day or two to try and persuade the boss I'm allowed out to the Motu run first than I'll do a Coromandel ride plan. Can't be hard, turn left at the bombays and follow the trail of remuera tractors.........

Yes, I've been hankering to ride to Port Jackson for some years now(done it in the car many times) and Ive never organised a ride before. Gotta be a first time eh.

I've never been afraid of gravel/shingle and my old driveway was almost a 4wd track, I used to navigate a ZZR1100 up and down it, so I reckon Im up to it on my 600. I'm only worried about getting lost on roads Ive never ridden. Like I said, I wouldnt want to hold you guys up on the ride.

BTW Dave, How much to hire a DR650 or the DR250 for a day? I couldnt find the day hire prices on the site.

    .
Mr 3rd person suggest a butterfly net inadequate.
Large commercial fishing trawler currently stevedoring on Princess wharf best bet.

Bugger, not a commercial fisherman! Recreational fishers are limited to a single 60m net......

Wait.....here's a "one that got away" story!

I also like going over to the east side,(pt Charles, and the ride to Stony Bay).
Its a shame that the east and west tips are only joined by a walking track.
Accom can be DOC sites, or possibly the farm backpackers.
The east side has some chalets at Stony Bay. The best time to be there is when the Pohutokawas are in bloom. Magic.
Hey Goblin, the CBR would do the west side easy. Sometimes, on the Stony bay side the last 5-10 km gets a bit rough.
I don't think that road gets much attention maintenance wise. The Coro boys would have the update.

    I loved the Coromandel

It was my first adventure style ride, unfortunately I didnt have anyone else to tag along, but I loved every minute of it!!

    Heck motorcycling is addictive

That ride is not quite 12 months ago and since then at a guess I have done about 15000km of riding
I have only been riding for 12 months, but it seems such a looong time ago, but the grin factor never wears off

Here is the post and the photos of my trip around the Coromandel, remember this was at the end of August last year .....
    Wicked weather

I had a surprise guest at Fletcher Bay. Had to tell him there wasn't enough wriggle room in the tent.

I'd be quite keen to tag along on this Moto- Waikaro ride if are looking for any extras. Live in Whakatane and have done both of these roads a few times- a great ride.
