Where to look (Searching for a bike)

Right, finally decicded that I wana sort my shit out and find myself a bigger bike. Not too much, but in the 400cc catagory. Been searching through Trademe, and I've got my sites set on a ZXR400 (or maybe its a 450) love the bikes, the look and the engine size is ideal. However, doesnt appear to be that many around.

I figure winters a good time to buy a bike, cause in the summer, every bastard and his dog is out riding. If I buy in the cold season.... see my logic here?

Anyway, Iv got no problem getting around the country to pick up a bike from where ever, but where's the best place to try and find a bike like this?

I suggest you test ride a 600 if you haven't already. If you plan on doing any open road riding you would be glad of the extra cc's come summer time. I have done the 400 thing, a good commuter, but I found the need t oscrew the crap out of them a bit tiring. Each to their own though.
Old Trade Me and the Buy Sell Exchange I find is the best hunting ground...

    Good Luck.

    yeah what he said

i'm selling my 400 right now (feel free to buy it of course) - I been mostly touring since I got back into riding 6 months ago and most others I ride with are on 750-1000cc bikes; the one thing you notice when trying to keep up is the need to hammer the transmission a lot more than you otherwise would on a bigger bike, especially in the twisties and hills - you just miss being able to use 2 gears and thats it. AND my clutch arm can get pretty sore after the 300km mark with amount of gear changes I'm making

    yellow pages

    trademe.co.nz
bikepoint.co.nz ( which is where the shops advertise, when they can be bothered

all the local bike/car mags have classifieds in 'em.

i'm so tempted to ask if you've ventured into town .. but i'll refrain
