Lazy parking wardens

I just got a ticket for $200 for the offence "using a vehicle while not displaying a current license label in the manner required" while parked in the Grey St bike park today.

The thing is my license label's stuck to my swingarm and is pretty easily visible by anyone who spends more than a second looking for it. I've had it stuck in that location for years with no trouble. It just annoys me that I've now got to waste my time sending a letter in to the council to get them to drop it when the ticket never should have been issued in the first place.

Seems like you are displaying the rego "as close as is practicable to the registration plate".

I for one have my bike's rego on the swingarm as well. It came that way from the dealers.

Mine is certainly displayed as close as possible to the registraion plate. On the back of it, to be precise, where you can't actually see it unless you go looking. Same as my WOF. Come to think of it, it's even bolted to the right-hand side of the plate.

As for Melon's case. Write in, contest, and include an invoice for the time you spent writing the letter and justify it on the blatant incompetence of the parking nazi involved. They won't pay it, but it should ensure the parking warden gets a reaming from his boss.

Dumb idea just came to me: get one of those labllers at work (everyone has them, don't they?) and make a sticker that says "the rego is on the right side swingarm" and stick it on your plate.

The parking knob can hardly say they looked properly if they miss that.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. Just hope whoever issued the ticket gets a slap from their bosses for wasting everyone's time.

but the term sprotsbike is purposely misspelled as a derogatory fart in the direction of the thou riding posers, but what would a commonwhore driver know, anyway

Never thought of 'sprotsbike' as derogatory - but maybe I don't see things the way others do??

Send in the photos you've posted and they'll wave the ticket. Had this happen to my wife.

I used to keep mine on the inside of the side cover because there was nowhere else (before the brackets were available and no swing arm) and was told by testing station staff that this was perfectly legitimate. Back then you had two weeks to prove you had one.
