I am going to be completely rebuilding my RM motor soonish. I am looking for someone who can rebuild the crank in my motor. Anybody know of anyone who does a good job?

true, how much was that. I will supply the rod and bearing kit. The crank seems fine, but I thought I may as well do it if I go to the hassle of tearing it down. If it's too much $$ then fuck it.

it cost me 500 bucks to get it done, (motor was already out of bike with top end off of it). and i supplied the parts as well. if the bike is getting pulled apart might as well get it done, better safe then sorry. ( but if you can find some place cheaper)

Yikes! I got my CR250 done (admittedly a couple of years back now) at Superior down here in Chch and it was $800 all up for a new top end and a crank rebuild (and they supplied all the parts). Took the complete bike in too (couldn't be bothered with the hassle of pulling the engine out to save a few dollars). I'd shop around a bit more.

Wonder if they used the Jig ,,Cr250s have a thin plate covering the web and using the trad method ,, damages the plate , a lot of people grind the plate off ( read me next crank build ) ...or did they shove a crank assembly in ,,,

Wouldn't know as it was a drive in/drive out job. Crank didn't have any extra vibration and lasted well (was still fine when I sold the bike a year or so ago) so whatever they did seemed fine and was balanced and aligned properly. I suspect they send the cranks out to a motor engineer such as Russell Thomas in Chch to get this done.
    Thanks for your insight though.

HOnda cranks are a bit more tricky to do than most other brands, i ma pretty sure honda do not sell conrod kits for a lot of models, you have to get aftermarket conrod kits,

another option is a Hot rods crank assemble, they are pretty good price.

Can look through back of Kiwirider or motorcycle marketplace for options.
Got a crank done by Ginger Molloy, obviously he is very experienced & wasn't too expensive.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

Yeah I'll have the crank out of the case and I'll be supplying the parts. If you could find out the name of his business it would be a great help thanks

i reckon that you are better off to take the wheol bottom end in and let them remove, rebuild and re fit ot cos its easy to fuck stuff up when you stick it all back togather.

if you know what you are doing you'll be sweet tho
