Im still paying of my last bike. Basically with a bit of hard saving for a month and selling a few things I could afford a cheap 2 stroke that I will mostly use for fun. I live 5 mins walk from work (though I have been ridng the A to work). I would only take it out to mates or just for a blat. That should keep me kinda sane for a couple of years while I save up for an SV. . I really like 2 strokes and would like to get into street stock or bucket racing....

Go see Boyles. They have a Suzuki GT100 that they may part with. Like the AX but better (disc brakes, 5 speed box etc)

anything with an RD or RZ badge these days means $$$
i still miss my RZ250 - but the RG150 was way faster and lighter.
    Its also handled better.
If you want a slogger with some weight, GB250/400, SRX250/400
as for 2 smokers (god bless em).....most have been outlawed so all that remained were a few racebikes.
If you can get an RZ or an RD these days for less that $2K your doing good.
Also if you like nekkid there is the RG250WalterWolf

You could always look around for a TS185. I think that Suzuki still brought them in to NZ up until a couple of years ago.

You could do the 2 stroke SuperMoto thing. I rode one of the things way back when, and they were a lot of fun (although I did fall off that more than anything else I've ridden). Cheap to run, and pretty tough as well.

Good grief these are 1970s vintage, not daily drivers. They should be rounded up for future restoration. I happen to know of a sanctuary, any more parts bikes you happen to find I would be keen on.

Haha I very nearly bought one as my first bike, instead of the CB. That pic is just something I turned up Google as at first I had no idea what they looked like (and looks is the most important thing when you're buying your first bike).

In real life it was a decrepit rust filled piece of shit. Still adorable though

Maybe that was one of my bikes, was it on Northshore owned by some hippie? (parts bike bought for electrics etc).

Hahaha definitely a hippie, not the North Shore (Mt Albert). Wasn't a parts bike, he was trying to flog it off as a respectable runner, which it ain't. What's the past tense of ain't? Eren't? Usn't?

So these are gentlemanly bikes, not to be abused and used by low-class Rimutakering Wellingtonians?

A green T125 was my first bike (way back). It was fantastic. Used it to go to school, and was quicker than my mates SL125!

Never had any trouble with it once my Dad sorted out a dodgy earth. It was so easy to work on wth the heads perched out in open space, and had the most amazing ground clearance- better than most of my trail bikes.

thanks for the inspiring story. In parts collection stage, this will be a 2 year project after I get other projects out of the way. I have a picture of a mint one on the garage wall.
