It's a relief to finally be legally allowed to ride my bike
After 11 years on a learner's licence (yeah I know, slack ass) and 3 months on restricted (did a defensive driving course) I sat my full on Thursday 8am, and passed ... phew. It was a bit like going back to school though and I nearly screwed the hazard ID part, misunderstood when I was to 'look and remember' hazards...
I picked up the brother in law's bike on Wednesday 5:15pm, for the test the next morning - a new GN250, then rode home for 20 ks in what was the crappiest weather I have ever ridden in, thunder, hail, surface flooding and strong wind. Not fun on a bike I was not used to, with a dead spot under acceleration and basically what seemed like 20% of the CX's power. A good test in itself I thought.
Anyway, I won't be as paranoid now about checkpoints, binning it, any cop car ... and it will be much better having a licence that is not the learner or restricted colour. It's a bit embarrasing when renting a car (for work etc) and handing over a yellow licence!
