22ltr fuel tank is under seat, apparently. Makes for a slim leg/tank fitment. Nice to see Yamaha trying different things.

You got that right - weight and suspension travel are about the same. Seat is also very similar. If only somebody would bring out something more like the KTM 640 Adv i.e. good suspension with more trail style seat i.e. can move weight around like on a DR650. Hmmm - time for a DR650 RSE update????

The Tenere was long in the tooth before the F650 was spawned. Any heritage the new bike's got came from Yam's own efforts, thank you very much. If anything the F650 is a Tenere copy, not t'other way round.

That's not new for Yamaha...my '97 Virago has the main tank under the seat.
Certainly keeps the C O G nice and low.

As far as I know, its new for the XT series. Makes sense if they are trying to slim down the seat/tank area for better rider control, while still supplying a decent fuel range.
Spoke to Waikato Yamaha this arvo re eta and pricing, got a don't know reply, but they said they would email something once they know.
