Talking The Gladstone pub and... warning

to all those that enjoy the back roads of the Wairarapa here is a wee thought, now there are a lot of local bikers there and the back roads are one of the few places that we as riders can go and have some fun without to much worry from the boys in blue, however there are a few people out there that stop at the Gladstone pub and start antics .i.e wheelies etc and this has started to attract a little attention from the coppers, I for one love the back roads and would hate to see some of us getting busted, so if you are a regular weekend wairarapa junkie then please for all our sakes slow down around the Gladstone pub, it will make it safer for all of us if we as a group can control those urges on that one small setion of road.

Good point. Don't want to upset the locals. I normally slow down past driveways and stock etc. However, the one time I have heard of wheelies past that pub, it was at the invitation of some of the locals in there.

But yep its our playground, lets respect it and those that live there.

Beware riding the Rapa - locals up in arms with pickforks

I had an interesting chat with a rider at the Fish yesterday. He knows a farm owner out ..that way.. who warned him "you bike guys don't know how much trouble you are in" "locals are dropping flyers around the region in letter boxes & the police are under a lot of pressure to act"
This rider had just been out to Lake Ferry and there were 3 Police cars patrolling the straights.
Shame if you just bought the latest ZX26 or Gixer3000

The wife works with a woman who's husband is a farmer in the Rapa.

They deliberately avoid moving stock on the weekends for fear of a motorcyclist being unable to stop in time.

Methinks 'tis good to be racing - much less desire to ride on the road as quickly.

It's taken me a long time Deano , but I'm starting to think that way myself. I'm looking forward to finer weather a a few track days to get my rocks off. I've been injured for a couple of months and apart from missing those big breakfasts I'm not missing the road ???? Gaz.

wow Maybe time to find a new playground, or switch to a streetfighter. Or just save it for the track

I dont understand why they must spoil our fun, it's not like we are stupid about it, nor hurting anyone. I guess big sportsbikes are going to become a thing of the past pretty soon, as apart from a track, there won't be anywhere to enjoy them. And the posibility of keeping a legal licence will be near impossible.

Having a fast/fun machine is a waste of money if it spends all its time at 100kph, or parked up in the garage

Oh well it was good while it lasted.

Might have to change the ride day. Sundays will now obviously be over zealously policed. Secret mid week runs anyone?

I am surprised there have not been reports of lost licences in that area already, given the speeds I hear people ride at (and I may have ridden at on my new baby)

I am counting down the days to the next track session.

Yeah, well perhaps a 'Dr Sado-Masochist' is the answer.

I got my absolute jollies on yours last week. I was pleasantly surprised - in fact it's a wonder you didn't hear me laughing from home....

Low speeds but adrenaline in abundance !!!

I even got my foot down
