yup, I've spoken to Ombudsman, and they advised me to despute the claim settlement amount, spoke to the lady at NAC (northern auto club) and she was bitchy as hell... but said if thats what I wanted to do... if I knew better than the assessors to go for it (sarcastic bitch!), but anyway, I'm onto that, already have one valuation from Mt eden, and on monday I'll be printing out auctions from turdme and will send all those in with a cover letter...

not gonna get my hopes up... I'm just hoping this cow at NAC doesn't get all btchy about it and push up the buy-back price of the zxr...
I'm not a complete idiot... some pieces are missing

Unsure what has she got to do with any of it? Tell the sarcastic hoe to get f*cked.

The 250cc bike market took off when petrol prices took off, sold both of ours for a lot more than we paid... Definitely get prices from Bike Shops and Tardme for the assessor to compare, and check out www.Bikepoint.co.nz on the internet, there will be bikes for sale there compare. Show him the picture on your profile (or was it the pikky earlier in this thread) to show him the condition.....

Get a quote from Red Baron, they over price their bikes, but it'll work in your favour for once

    /edit: What's your excess btw?

yeah I'm going to contact Red Baron today... my excess was $750, but since they are only trying to settle as less than half the insured amount they have reduced my excess to $300-odd

If you can get 3500, you're probably not doing too bad I would have thought though, given the market, you'd be getting closer to 4000 though :/

    Blah

    yeah!!

Sent in the valuation from Mt Eden along with some print outs from bikepoint and trademe and pointed out a few details...

Got a call this afternoon... and they are going to pay me only $250 short of my covered amount... which is AWESOME!!!!! And its saved me about $2000... plus they offered the ZXR back to at a VERY reasonable price...

    *is so stoked*

It'll still be a few months before I'm back on two wheels but I'm much hapier about the whole episode now

thanks everyone for your support and advice...

Heres hoping the thief gets a fat dose of karma

Karma isn't that fat, and he doesn't like people talking about his weight like that!

Glad you've got it all sorted

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Wow - sorry to read this whole saga PF...I feel some small fraction of your pain as I just got my ride back about 3 weeks ago after a long, long wait (parts delays and associated fiascos)

I'd still be giving that insurance company the flick after what they initially tried to pull - rude and unduly nasty at a stressful time.

I have been going through a L E N G T H Y insurance saga myself associated mith my minor off. Sadly, it's through no fault of my own or Star insurance (who have been great - covered me even though I'd been poor and struggling with my premiums at the time and their computer initially said my policy was cancelled...)

Unfortunately until it is sorted I'm down $500 excess and have a steep, steep hike in insurance premium (will be refunded or adjusted in any new policy when sorted) - farker is that it is the other party (who reversed in front of me) and their insurance company that are making me suffer by digging their heels in - will be directly ringing up the insurance collection unit soon to chase it up.

Good luck hunting for a new bike You sound due a lucky break...

Great news. Sad fact is often the innocent must fight for their rights etc.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
