    Sidecars

Hello - can anyone help me please. I work for Whitelock Suzuki in Wanganui and sold a C50T Boulevard to a nice ole fella who is interested in attaching a sidecar to the bike. I made some enquiries locally with Engineers and they suggested there was probably somone in the country that builds them, has experience, knows the compliance laws.

Does anyone know of any sidecar building experts and would they mind passing their contact details on to me.

    My email is sue@whitelocksuzuki.co.nz

Thanks heaps for any help - much appreicated.

    Sue

There used to be a specialist sidecar builder in Mt Maunganui. Very professional outfit by the outside appearance of their premises. Sorry that I don't know the name but they were on the Hewletts Road industrial estate. I'll check with a mate who lives over that way and get back if I find anything. In the meantime, it might be worth you contacting Mount Motorcycles (BMW dealer) as they might know. They would only be a km or so away as the crow flies.

Phone Scootour (welligton scooter hire) on 04-384 7679 or scootour@paradise.net.nz, they just had a sidecar made for a vespa/belladonna and the old guy who made it seemed nice. Retired, but could be persuaded I reckon. (The builder of the sidecar didn't work for scootour, he was just a friend who knew how.)

Interestingly, a sidecar doesn't need to be tested to get a WOF.

One of our own members EuroDave does just this for a living.
I've seen his work and it's very nice indeed!

If you can't get in touch with him through the forum let me know and I'll tell you how to get him on the phone.

    Good luck

    Yep, sure do,
New sidecars tend to be expensive & so Id recommend getting a complete used one of TradeMe & I can then fit it properly
If he wants a brand new one , I do a couple of different fibreglass sidecars
The one that would suit is my version of an 'SM' . This was based on an Australian 'DJP' that was later modified by Alistar Sabiston & called the Sabiston Mk1, they all look very much the same
Id obviously need the bike here in CHCH.
PM me for more details, pricing etc, Dave
