I could only dream of a new upgraded fuel injected version of the mc22. My dream bike.
But that looks alright. They made piles of the CBR150's in Thailand, I wish they had made it here then I might have been couriering on one of those instead of my trusty NXR125 (which is working out very well).
I'm so glad I would up with a 250 with decent enough power to keep me interested (just barely) long enough to get to my full. If I bought a 125cc as I'd originally planned I'd be long bored by now - hell, I'm already bored of the NZ250, but as I'm on the home stretch I'll grit my teeth and last it out until I get my full.
Sure the CBR125 looks like a cool wee bike for a learner, but I reckon you'd soon be hankering after a bit more go. You don't have to stay on your learner licence quite so long in the UK, mind. Still would be an excellent bike for the NZ market if they brought it in, I think it would sell reasonably well at $4995 or thereabouts.
Soapbox house of cards and glass, so don't go tossing your stones around.
You musta been.... high. You musta been...
Good commuter.
Would buy one.
It's a real shame that our population and that of Australia is so small. The reason they make a CBR125 and no longer make a CBR250 is coz in the UK 125cc is the Max for a basic Learner - this is a common rule in staged licences in the rest of Europe too therefore it creates the demand to make these little bikes. With the NZ population somewhat less than that of your average European city it means few manufacturers bother making 250s any more - high powered 250s died off when the Japanese govt introduced hp restrictions hence we are faced with our current crop of ageing 4 cyl 250s and some new twins.
I would have bought one as a first bike up to about $4,500 as I would rather buy newer than faster any day.
But for so many others it's ALL about power and speed.
Well make one you lazy arse! http://www.feralinjection.com/cbr/cbr1.html
And the 125 beats taking a scooter to work, some decent tires and a goal of not loosing any ANY corner speed the entire way to work would make a fun and cheap way of not fucking your many multi $K race rep etc
Looks good, a bit faster than the mighty CG125 and just as good fuel economy!
Is it a water or an air cooled engine?
I wouldn't write 125's off eh, they are where you learn to ride, I mean REALLY learn.
If you have no horsepower you have to make up for it with great skills. If you have a screaming 250 4 with 45 hp or a real 250, ie a 2 stroke with more than that and less weight you tend to just rely on the power to get you through.
On a 125 you learn about corner speed and lines and stuff. Most learners get a ZXR250 or a CB250RRRRRRRRR and think they are so quick because they're revving to 19000, but I have been on rides with these fullas on my CG125 around the hills and blitzed them.
My latest streetfighter project is a CG125 with an XR200R engine with Hot cam and Ported head 6 speed box etc. Will be awsome!!!! Will leave it looking really factory, paint the engine silver, standard drum brakes bars etc!!!!!![]()
Two Stroke, the pinnacle of engine design
I donno 250s are fantastic but in New Zealand i think they are to over priced. Besides its probably just me but i like touring on smaller bikes it just seems more of an adventure to see if the bike will make it or not.... i took my lead 100 2 up to Tamranui and back from Hamilton around 170km each way. 75-80kph most of the way it was interesting..
As a large fan of smaller bikes/scooters I hope Honda dose not over price it. If it dose come here i would dearly love to buy one as an upgrade....
Oh its Liquid cooled according to bikez:
