Talking Spanking and spannering night piccie report...

Well, finally got off my arse and processed the piccies and posted a thread about the spanner night just past. Since the last one is all cluttered up, I thought I'd better just hammer out a new one!

First Insane1 turned up early and we got his Burger oil changed and gear oil as well, came out black and had a good time squirting it in with a syringe in the hard to get places! A good way to start Spanner night! This got me in the mood to sort out my Dad's man-cave and get it re-organised with shelves and tidying it all up. This took ages and is still WIP.

Okay, then it started off again with most excellent stalwart Donor rocking on up and doing all sorts of wonderful things with Daisy. Got her WOFed and Regoed and riding again after 61 days! Huzzah!

Not content with this, zeocen (I spelt it correctly this time as pointed out by fastidious McJim that I (mis)spell it two ways.. zerocen, zeozen) rocks up and somehow we lose him since he blithely ignored my directions.

Oh yeah, I was riding Rosey since Donor was darting about on Daisy!

Anyhow, a great bike wash was done and much bubbly goodness was thrown on our long suffering rides. I think Donor's picture says enough about that.

zeocen pootled off for a while, whilst Donor and I (those of delicate dispositions may wish to avert eyes here)....

Fixed up my cage's radiator! Gasp! Shock! Horror! Anyhow, after this, I arranged for an explosion of food and a banquet of small proportions that would do a small marriage celebration proud.

For those interested, it was a buffet enterprise containing :

    Sweet & Sour pork
    Pork chow mein
Noodles, two types - egg noodles and vermicelli
    Chicken Egg Foo Yoong
    Curry Chicken and Potatoes
Chips, bangers, potato fritters, won tons and crabsticks (er.. crab flavoured fish sticks that is...)

All salubriously washed down with the usual swillings of L&P, Coca-Cola, Coffee, Tea and Export.

but I digress. Righto, too much typing, here are some piccies ... and the next longish post to come... you say!

Part II : The evening crew turn up

Quite suprised at the excellent turn out to these Spanner nights! After all, it's cold, it's a Friday night and why the hell would you want to go to something that Donor and gijoe1313 are mis-organising!

Anyhow, a load of bikes turn up almost altogether ... first lot that came in was McJim and Chickadee, could tell since McJim's Duck was making more noise than a White House intern at a congressional inquisition!

Next was Crashe and that near-legendary presence of Ixion (Donor and I was bedazzled by his appearance like Moses parting the Red Sea). Much blatherskiting, disparagements of people's reputations and abilities were bandied about.

Since I have no pride nor dignity left, it was like tar and feathers on the town's pariah. Normal.

Anyhow, much amusement was gained by introducing everyone to zeocen's bling addition (take a look for the b-ball playing giraffe mod). We got him to autosol the cans on the little ol'hornet to make up for it! Crashe managed to somehow get her bike lifted off the ground for McJim to lube her up! Ooer!

I managed to make a huge amount of coffee and one tea and thrust them into waiting hands. McJim availed himself to the food that was left over and I was pleasantly suprised he liked it (I did'nae cook it, my ma did!)

Jeaves rocked on up and I ooh ahhed over his sweet Zeal. He got to work on the little ol'hornet with Donor and I. We set about fixing up the controls (clutch, brake levers, throttle sleeve) and then Donor and Jeaves got stuck into putting on the new R&G slide protectors... yeah yeah ... I was shutting the gates after the horse has bolted!

Ixion took Daisy out and gave us the learn on it. Listening to him ride her was a revelation and I realised I was far, far too conservative in riding her. McJim offered his insightful comment "they have to be spanked and have the nuts revved off 'er, wiv'the limiter bouncin' laddie, och ay th'noo!"

Learned I was. And Ixion's advice on two-stroker engines was lapped up like manna, crikey - I could have listened to him talking shop like that all night!

Anyhow, work commenced on my poor little ol'hornet and McJim and Crashe took over from Jeaves and Donor! Lots of scottish curses, Crashe's helpful input and some electrical connectors got them indicators working again.

Enough palavering! Making with the piccies now!

Part III : Little lost sheep....

Well, it was getting on ... zeocen had already left since he was owned by his missus (I'm character assassinating here now! ) Jeaves had places to go and since his smoking buddy was going, Donor buggered off as well (how dare he!)

McJim and Chickadee had to get back before their hired babysitter nicked off with the family silverware and Crashe and Ixion followed them out.

Sigh. This was all due to Xerxesdaphat's fault. Typical. He shows up and everyone buggers off - must be his lack of hygiene or summat

Anyhow, he was shaking like a politician doing the rounds at election time and we got some warm fluids and sustenance into his poor, orphan student waif's body. Once he got warmed up, we got stuck into the little ol'hornet again and tried in vain to get front mudguard on Never mind!

Since it was a general spanner night and not my transparent attempt to get everyone over to fix up the mistakes I make on my rides, I somehow managed to con Xerxes to work on his bike (Natalie her name was I think! )

Anyhow, from 10pm to 2am we worked feverishly ... er ... more like freezishly? On restoring his control clock to... a minimalist stylin'g.

"King of the anti-bling" I believe his motto and chant was! I think he views my ham-fisted and asian-biker boi attitude to the way I bling my little ol'hornet up with cool dis-dain and cafe style snootiness! Huh!

Well, we CRCed, drilled, hacksawed, filed, bodged, muttered and cursed over mounting the unique arrangement you see in the photos below...

Cable ties produced, nylock nuts, electrical tape and a prayer to the biker gods got it sorted semi-ok! Phew! I think that's all she wrote! Xerxes tottered off around 2am and I hit the hay.

What a most excellent spanner night. Big ups and mad props to all those who turned up and a big, hearty thank you from this mad asian biker boi! I think I'll keep doing these since they are so much fun and gives me excuse to do tool shopping sprees!

Right. I shall get Donor to plan the next spanner night post haste!

Never let the facts get in the way of creative writing my boy! I prefer to keep it peppy since your truer quote doesn't make for good tabloid journalism!

Ahahaha, that new speedo of mine looks more hilarious the more I look at it. Need a round headlight and it'll look much less surprised!

Thanks to Justin for hosting all us rowdy bikers, and for tutelage with the drill press and hacksaw. I can think of few times in my life I've been more grateful for a hot cup of tea and some hot food than I was when I arrived

Stoppit! You're giving me waay to many excuses to go for a ride! Just have to work out what to take in a portable workshop for the spannering!

The most incredulous thing is... I could actually see myself doing this! Any excuse for a ride!

I do believe a crafty and cunning plan is in order ...

Now now, you seem to be more in ken with the asian way of things ... always offer food and drink to one's guest! And the way you were shivering and turning blue gave me a clue as well!

No, I think you got the talent and oily thumb to prove you are a dab-hand at this spannering stuff... sooner or later, I think you will be the one hosting "Xerxesdaphat Most Excellent Cafe Styling Spanner Nights!"

I think someone needs to host a "paint job/fibre glassing/fairing repair" session (I'm wading through some books at the moment.. )

Y'reckon Betsy will hold together till then? Sheesh! I dunno.... here I was told that two-stroker smokers were "high maintenance" ... I think you blew that theory out of the piston ring!
