Ouch! Some people just don't look.

Reminds me of an incident I had on my CB750 years ago. I parked it behind a parallel parked truck and nipped in to a dairy. Next thing I know the truck has backed into the bike and pushed it sideways about 6ft before they stopped to see what the scraping sound was. Got away without a scratch, just slid on tyres and side-stand. Damn lucky for the truckie.

Welly Motorcycles told me today its not gonna be ready until Wednesday and its gonna cost $200 ouch. thought it would be cheaper than that. I am just going to pay and send the invoice the the lass who did it - hope she doesnt complain about it. Starting to think maybe i should have called the cops out to get it verified - if she decides not to pay i wonder what the deal is...

will know later in the week i suppose O.o

    $200??

I'm assuming that more than the clutch lever is broken then. A clutch lever is about $20.

What did they say they are going to do to it?

Probably would have been a good idea.

This happened to us once, some Beaurepaires tyre repair guy was following too close in his ute. Dad stopped at the lights, and he went right up our ass. Didn't do too much damage, but scratched us a bit. Got his details, he said he'd be liable for any repair charge.

Went to the panel beaters, they quoted like $300 to respray the panel and the adjacent ones to return it to the condition it was before the crash. Rang the Beaurepaires guy. He said something along the lines of "Nah, that's too much" and refused to pay. We went to the cops, but they couldn't be bothered.

There was nothing we could do.

I'm not the type to call the cops when this sorta stuff happens, but I wonder what it is you can do in this situation to protect yourself, should the other party decides to change their mind when they get home.
    What can you do?
Personally I would grab my cell, take a few photos, and use it's dictation mode to take a statement from them, telling me what they just did.

Keep your insurance company's phone number in your phone. Call them straight away and tell them them what just happened, and the drivers details. They will tell you what you need to do.

I would have thought smalls claims court is made for this kind of thing. Quite cheap usually to do too - not sure how it works in NZ but in UK and states its the first port of call when you get wankers doing shit like that.

Small claims court for the lady or the bike shop? I gotta admit, I felt like opening a Tui when people started saying things like $20 bucks and two minutes....

I got my GN serviced a couple of weeks ago and it was over $200. Still can't figure out why it costs so much, compared to a van that takes four times as much oil, and has double the amount of tyres to check etc.
