i do if theres no choice... like, in the instance above, i was at a back packers for the night, and the pay n display was the only parking they had. nothing on the street.
also, if im only making a run into one shop and find an empty car park right outside, ill put a 10c coin in, rather than park a block away. [and risk getting blocked in by niftys.] likely paid less than $3 over the 3-4 years ive been on two wheels.

I came across this awesome letter to the council that my partner wrote and I reckon its awesome! Up yours council! It was after the bloody parking wardens kept giving her street magic tickets.
It goes something like this:
To Whom It May Concern:
On Monday 12 March my scooter, registration 12UGL, was unfairly issued with a parking ticket (notice number – P5370248) on Symonds St outside the University of Auckland.
This was issued for failing to display a parking receipt in a pay and display area. However, on this day I had arrived for my 11am lecture and paid for 1 hour of parking, as the motorbike parking area was completely full at the time. I had received a ticket the week earlier under similar circumstances and I wasn’t going to make the same mistake again, $40 puts a big dent in the pockets of students. As a scooter does not have any good places to display a parking receipt I tried to tuck it under the seat. For reasons beyond my control – wind, students brushing past etc, the ticket has obviously been dislodged from where I placed it and the parking warden failed to realise this.
I had done everything in my power to comply with the parking restrictions, however I am the one being punished for the Auckland City Council’s lack of ability in supplying adequate receipts for vehicles other than cars, such as scooters and motorbikes. Until us motorcyclists can pay and display 100% safely as cars do, I refuse that we should be expected to pay the penalty.
I paid for the parking receipt, and displayed it as best as my scooter allowed.
I do not believe I am liable for this infringement fee as well.
I believe consideration in not having to pay this fee is duly expected. Until the Auckland City Council can get their act together and come up with a way to work with motorcyclists, who by the way are easing congestion on Auckland’s roads and heading towards the ‘one less car’ idea the Council promotes, then these problems are going to continue happening, and law-abiding, honest people, like myself, are going to continue to be wrongfully punished.

Some cockfeeding rapist of a parking warden gave me a fucking ticket on XXY date. I paid for the fucking parking but your bullshit system ment that i was unable to put the worthless piece of paper anywhere suitable on my scooter. Take your fucking ticket and go fuck yourself. And if this doesn't change your mind, then take a good smell of the cheque I will send, because I will be wiping my ass with it.
