Most interesting one I had was on a two lane motorway at night so I didnt realise there was a cop behind me. The car in the left lane was doing about 110 and I was passing him. See flashing lights behind me so I pull into the left lane in front of the other car. However before i can pull over the other car pulls over and the cop pulls in behind him

I'm sitting on the motorway heading to West Auckland (what's that called? Western Motorway? Sounds like a good name for it anyway ), at about 120kph (was flaming cold, impatient, and tired, and that's no excuse ), 3.30am, no L-plate, no keys in ignition (in my pocket so they didn't fly away).

Off go the sirens -- I shit myself -- indicate left, police motorcycle goes screaming past like I was standing still. So loud! Must've been right behind me when he hit the sirens. Why wait so long?

Sirens are only necessary when there is someone to hear them. If that cop was going as fast as you reckon, he was probably right up your date before he saw your bitsy tail-light. Either that, or you weren't concentrating

Or maybe my CB is so lightening-fast that some kind of super-doppler-effect prevented me from hearing the siren until he was a couple of metres away
