Yes and I ride a 250
No and I ride a 250
Yes and I ride a bigger bike
No and I ride a bigger bike
If a topic is of special interest to a particular group, I see nothing wrong with cross-posting it i.e. to both sections. There is no technical reason for not allowing this. vBulletin isn't resource hungry, and the back end database isn't going to filled up by the occasional cross-post.
Server logs will consume more space than the odd post...
people make mistakes no biggie! i'm sure we all have better things to worry over than some ridiculously over reacted double postings
I can see both sides of the story here.
I definitely understand not wanting to have two threads on the same topic -- it means that two discussions about the same thing take place, and to keep up with it you have to read both or risk missing out on something. Pain in the arse.
I only read KB with `New Posts', so sub-forums don't mean much to me, but I understand some people tend to hang around certain sub-forums.
My suggestion is this; perhaps you can have one main post somewhere (pick a sub-forum, I don't know) -- and in the other sub-forums where people might be interested you can post a notice saying `come and check out our ride, here's the link', and then have a moderator close the thread so nobody posts in it.
As far as I'm concerned that fixes both problems. Any opinions?
I still can't believe this is still spilling out and over... storm in a tea cup. Just seems to me that all it needs was some "uncommon" common sense apparantly!
People make mistakes all the time, after all, if it was a first time then no prob. When it's persistent then it's a problem. After all being a teacher, I deal with this sort of thing on a daily basis!Just takes a little word rather than a massive over-reaction.
Its when people think they are only in the right and not acknowledging that one could have over-reacted or make a mistake that arrogance, sheer obstinancy and "I am right. You are wrong" mentality makes it a greater issue.
"I like to ride anyplace, anywhere, any time, any way!"![]()
tbh.
Taking the "it's a ride so it should be in M&E" logic to its logical conclusion, you would end up abolishing Club 250. Because there is , almost by definition, nothing that could be posted about 250s that could not fit into one of the general forums.
The whole point about Club 250 is that it is a CLUB. Read the blurb at the top of the 'Club' forum. It says:
"Have your own private or public club forum, moderatored by it's own members. Contact the admin to have it created."
So why does that not happen? Forcing 250 specific stuff into general forums would destroy the Club 250. Which would be a bad thing. I think the Club 250 serves a valuable purpose, not least being to somewhat counteract the impression in some quarters that 250s are a sort of second rate bike, that people only ride because they are not allowed to ride a bigger one.
I miss my 250. And once I get an Aprilia, we'll see if 250s are second rate.
Leave Club 250 alone
