    Southern weather today (30 July)

Decided on Saturday to go up to Chch and see some people. They're back to work on Monday so was going to leave on Monday morning. Little bit of rain outside didn't look too bad, radio said surface flooding in Chch. Maybe it was worse than it looked.

Decided to go anyway. Horribly windy and wet but could get used that. Turns out it got worse and worse the further south you get. Flooding across the roads both north and south of Oamaru. North stuff was the worst. As if I wasn't cold and wet enough by then, go through the waters and my boot basically caught all the spray coming off the bike. Seems they're waterproof but only to water trying to get out. Felt like gumboots full of water at the petrol station.

And the 3 layers of clothes and waterproof jacket are all soaked right through Couldn't get my helmet off at home and couldn't open the back door for a few minutes because I couldn't feel my fingers

Having said that, was a good trip up and the mighty little MC14 CBR250 was faultless. Didn't see any other bikers on the road on the way back down however. Funny that...

A ride to remember. Well done.
About 40mm so far today and it continues. Surface flooding. No bikes about.

    It is not raining.

Rain come down in distinct globuals of water known as raindrops. At the moment the bloody stuff out there is coming down in sheets.

Yep. Rained a bit here this morning. So much so that for only the second time in 9 months I took the car instead of the bike to work. Couldn't bear to think of it sitting outside in that rain all day. As it was, the rain stopped about 10.30.
