Mate, why would I come on here and bullshit about something like that? I don't even know if my bike is repairable or not yet, I haven't seen it, wasn't in much of a condition to check it out when it happened. I nearly passed out once I was settled on the side of the motorway (still in the fast lane too). I haven't been back at uni yet, planning to go back tomorrow though and see if i can hobble around the place. If I tell you the full story will that make it a bit more believable for you??

Yes laying your bike down to avoid hitting something often does'nt work as you lose the ability to steer and also are not able to go over the top of the vehicle(its the sudden stop that kills you).Which is probably why Metalor escaped relatively unharmed. If your face slammed into the bottom of the 4x4 then your head could have been catapulted back into the road surface.Ouch!

I stand by what I said you tosser, you're a bullshit artist. How did you majicaly fly over the 4x4? Or has your volty been raised up 4ft to clear the back? Minor damage to the Merc that the driver didn't worry about it? I think you fell of going around a roundabout and ended up in a kerb. Busted dickhead.

I flew off to the side of the 4x4.... according to the driver of the vehicle. Never said I flew over the top. Why are you being a wanker?

    Here's what happened:

I was in the fast lane at about 10:30am last thursday on the southern motorway heading south as I was going to uni at the Tamaki campus. I checked my mirror to change lanes cos I wanted to get off at greenlane, I then turned my head to check my blind spot and when I turned back around I was half a second away from smacking into the back of the 4x4. I didn't even have much time to brake, I just smacked into it, myself and the bike flipped, I could see the bike between my legs and can remember sort of pushing away from it and then I can just remember tumbling around. It all happened fucken fast and was over in seconds, I then stood up straight away and limped around a bit thinking about what a dick I was. Traffic had stopped and people had gotten out of their cars to help. A truck driver blocked the lane off, good thing cos I was still in the fastlane. The crowd that had gotten out to help were trying to get me to lie down, and the driver of the car I hit was on the phone to 111 and trying to tell me what to do at the same time. I didn't really want to lie down so I was just leaning against the medium barrier at that time while the truck driver picked my bike up and moved it aside, I couldn't move it myself cos my leg was sore and my back was the sorest.

So I'm leaning there, then all of a sudden I got really light headed and all the light reflecting off the plants and windows etc got really bright and I felt nauseous so the people who were there helped me to lie down and then got my license and phone out of my bag for me. I can't remember who arrived first, the police or the ambulance but they then put me in a stretcher and then wheeled me into the ambulance, the cops got my details and asked me what happened. All the people who stopped were hanging round the back door of the ambulance to see if I was alright and the lady who owned the 4x4 (who was really nice and actually called me later that night to see that I was ok) waited there till I was taken to hospital.

THEN I waited there for fucken hours, doctors checked me up, luckily I had no head or neck injuries and could move my neck freely (my helmet is not too bad off at all actually, just a big scrape where it hit something) but I was having trouble getting comfortable because my back was so sore. I went off to get x-rays and turned out nothing was broken and the docs said it's mainly muscle damage and might take up to 6 weeks to heal.

Trying to stand during the day was fucking shit too, cos I hadn't had pain killers yet and by that time the adrenaline and shock had warn off so the pain was pretty bad making nearly pass out a few times.

So yea, once the painkillers had kicked in properly, which i didn't get till about 2pm, I could stand and walk a bit, but very slowly and they let me go at 5pm.

Gave me a perscription for Tramadol, ibuprofen and these anti-nausea pills which I picked up and then pissed off home where I lay down the rest off the night, couldn't really eat cos I felt sick.

The owner of the vehicle rang my house that night to see how I was, not expecting me to be home so was surprised when my partner said she could talk to me. She told me she heard a huge smack and then saw me fly past her car and bounce when I hit the road, which I gathered to be my left side cos that's where all the main damage was.

Was pretty sore for the first few days but doctors said I had to keep moving in order for the muscles to heal properly otherwise they'll stiffen up. I can walk around now but it's still sore and I have to walk with a limp I'd say for the next couple of weeks.

So, is that a good enough explanation of what happened for you iwilde?

BTW - I'm very glad I invested in good gear! I was wearing gloves, leather jacket, kevlar jeans, boots and helmet. The jeans are pretty buggered now, but the only place they tore was where the handlebar dug into my right thigh but even then it was only the outer material that ripped while the inner lining remained intact. So I guess they work, haha.

Dunno if traffic had fully stopped or was just moving slowly but I know it happened really suddenly and the gap between me and the 4x4 closed really quickly, haha.

So yea, I don't know how i got off so lightly but I did and I'm feeling pretty fucking lucky.

Haha, yea probably a bit late! Who knows though, it might be handy, though I haven't seen the bike yet. It's at my parents house, my dad said it's pretty fucked though.

Send me a txt sometime next week and I'll meet ya at uni. Can't afford to have any more time off. Cheers!

Sounds like a nasty wee spill there Metalor, glad you got off with only minor injuries. If you need some help looking at the Volty let me know and we can see what is possible.

    Oh no!
Poor Volty! Poor you! (Sorry about the order of my sympathy)

Mack the Knife does a pretty good Volty-doctor impersonation. Take him up on his offer to check it all out and see what's what.

    Oh, and get well soon!

Glad to hear you're okay(ish) after such a spill. A good reminder to all of us to be careful out there!
