haha. It soooooooo true though. I can understand the going to a cafe thing on a Harley, and given how tight the roads are policed these days who cares if you can't do 270kph (or go round corners)......fair enough....I just can't understand why they are so expensive? Not much technology in them......a lot of metal for your money I suppose.....then again isn't mostly mild steel? Kidding HD owners!

Ummmmm, heard of a little thing called "Supply V's Demand"?

They're that expensive because they can be.

A guy turned up today to pick up his new Harley. Never owned a road bike before, just wanted a Harley.

Four of his mates came down on their Harleys to go for a ride with their friend on his new bike. When I asked "Why the choice of bike?" for his first road bike, he said he was just amazed by the social scene and wanted to be part of it.

I'm a commitee member of the Wellington HOG chapter and these guys have more events each year than any other motorcycling group in the world.

Yeah I know all that and of course its the reason why - I just don't understand it thats all. Humans are suckers for marketing machines I guess. I wouldn't mind a V-ROD in my collection either (at least Porsche put a little bit of technology into that engine for ya hard earned $), so guess that proves it.

    I'll take it.

I wouldn't ride around on grossly over powered sports bikes on one wheel unless I thought it was "cool". I don't give a toss what anyone else thinks, I just feel good doing it.

If a dude wants to splash out 36 large on a new Wideglide, because he thinks it's cool, who the hell am I to argue with him. (Especially when you see the commission )

Anyway, I thought there were two types of motorcyclists. Those who rode a Harley and those who wanted to

Yep,My father in law has a Suzuki Volusia.
Possibly the most boring thing on two wheels.
Looks ok but, almost like a Harley.
He bought it because he couldn't afford the real thing and he's got no friends anyway. He spends all his time trying to make it look more like a Harley, even wears an HD tee shirt.
I won't be seen dead with him.
