I'm with you. I wave at almost everyone when I'm riding, regardless of what I'm riding. Mostly because I know a hell of a lot of riders in the area and cant be arsed with someone getting miffed that I didn't wave.

Strange lot us sports bike riders though, alot of Harley customers complain of just what youre saying from the other side of the coin.

I wave like a demented Emporer Penguin at every bike I see. Including scooters. I nod when I'm commuting, because it requires a lot more concentration and effort to avoid becoming a statistic.

Don't care if you don't wave back, because I'm having fun anyway. I'll never forget the look (open face helmets) I got from a bunch retro/restored Brit bike riders on the Rimutakas when I waved at a considerable angle of dangle, while riding the old CBR with bits of bodywork flapping about. I think a couple of them stopped to see if the looney fell off. They didn't wave though.

You might wanna leave that bit out in future. The HD guys get a bit upset with us lot not getting the point.

I'll still wave at them though.

I've come to the conclusion that it's not the bike that they ride that makes them a stuck up prat that won't wave - some riders just don't. Mind you a point someone else made was that they may (in some situations) not have seen you or there may be another genuine reason. I've had Harley riders and Sports bike riders snob me but I've also had both wave.

Coming back from the Sprints on Sunday more riders didn't wave or nod than did! I kinda thought that in that sorta instance ie. making your way to or from a bike event, the friendly waves would come thick and fast.

Oh well. I mostly nod myself but I don't usually nod at scooters - dunno why.

    if HD riders wave

they risk losing control. Most of them cant ride for shit - fast on flat straight - crawl round corners. Lots of noise - look at me syndrome .

You must understand this is not all but most.
And the bunny owns 2 HD - and she will wave - or slap whip as she goes past.
Trip, trop, trip, trop, on my bridge, who's that walking on my bridge. Why it's you little Billy Goat, HO,HO,HO Im going to eat you up.

Waving is all good, unless you are going to go head over bars when you do it. Sure its polite to wave, but I'd rather not see someone wave then promptly bite the tarmac

I don't care if they don't wave, I'll wave at a snake if someone holds it still. But I really like the Harley guys that actually look away.
They must think that if they gaze on my warehouse bike they'll be turned to stone.

    I wave some times,some times I don't.
I've always been the same no matter what I was riding.
If I don't get a reply to a wave,I don't care, maybe the other rider was just not looking,in a world of their own, doing what ever other riders do,who knows? who cares?? I certainly don't.
What's more,I don't label them a prat, because that would say more about me than anything else.
I know several BMW riders that suck up big time when there's something in it for them but meet them at something like the Westpac toy run and they ignore everybody that's not in their prissy little club.
These guys who all come from AK have done wonders for my opinion of BMW riders in general
These guys are assholes, they are not typical BMW riders because I know a few others that don't carry on like this.
The same applys to HD riders, you just get the assholes and they colour your opinion.
Now us XS riders, when we come across each other we don't wave,we stop.
Some times we are already stopped
We then yarn about good handling (how to get some)reliable electrics(where do you buy them)Strong clutches(what parts to buy from where)the current exchange rate between the NZ an US dollar(cause the US is where we're sending for parts)the best battery tender to buy(cause we gonn'a need one)
How nobody makes bikes like they used to(yeah right) :spudwave:

I did but the electric cable pulled out and it stopped - then I looked down and saw the fatal words "Made in Japan" and it all came clear!!!

This reply is far too sensible for this site, we need more biased ranting and emotional chest-beating with NO thought of logic

I wave at all bikes, if your on a bike (whatever it is) theres something right with you. If you dont wave back maybe you didnt see me or didnt think to respond in time or your having a shite day and somethings on your mind.
What time were you going thru the gorge nc30 ? I mentioned on another thread that I saw 3 400's (i think) going hell for leather along some straights near there.
With a HP about 1 k up the road. Actually noticed a few cages were flashing thier lights to let me know. Probably bike riders doing the same thing i do when im in the car.
wave and if they dont wave back do you really care ? your on a bike having a bloody good time reminds me of a toast we used to use in the russel pub

the best of friends we'll all ways be

    well fuck you too
    and heres to me"
