First bin! Pancakes - down & dirrrrrty!

Real minor but achey and embarrasing none the less!

Got on the Northern to go to my sisters and help her fix her car just after five, was in the far left lane and doing 50-60k's when the cars in the next lane all braked and the 2 or 3 ahead of me in that other lane all did the "turn and let your hand catch the indicator on the way past" trick to get in to the gap in front of me. Managed to take heaps of speed off and get as close as to the white line without actually being on it before smacking the guy who pulled infront of me on the passenger side just in front of the B pillar. He was ok and I have his details, Towie came for the bike, ambo's took a gander at my hairy white body and the cops that stopped were great!

Thanks to all the riders who stopped, you know who you are!

Please everyone pray tonight my bike is written off! The front stopped on one of the armco supports hard, right side all poo'ed up, peg and rear brake assembly clean off, gauges poked, mirror + front brake master hit and the cop helped the towie get it on the truck and told me it feels pretty shit. I don't want a patched up bike, I want my bike! boo hoo for me, all sore and no wheels. Gear all scratched up to, my wet weather stuff I wear to keep what Auckland throws at us at bay scuffed up. ah well, enough ranting. See you kids out there soon ay!

Ah bugger... Sorry to hear about your incident, but at least you are okay - and no worrying about the gear, it did the job and kept you safe! I guess the situation rapidly went downhill when cagers do the normal thing and just pull out then indicate!

Well, let's hope you get the result you want with your bike being written off for insurance purposes!?

BTW ... no good deed goes unpunished!

So sounds like the personage in the car was at fault? Here's to a speedy insurance claim and hope you get new gear out of it as well.

Don't know why people zap from lane to lane to try and beat perceived traffic hold ups - I saw a programme on traffic flow which showed repeated lane changing was one of the main contributors to slow traffic!!

btw, they use water to model traffic flow. Works in the same way - was really fascinating!

Pretty sore today, all over. Head pretty fuzzy and doing dopey stuff, have my insurance through a good bunch, have been in touch with them, they have said they will have it assessed today and hit the other guys insurers up for gear and rental till mine is repaired/replaced. Glad I had my gear on, ankle is the worst.
Yeah, the car was at fault, I was rollin' along, and when the pulled out they were almost stopped and maybe just over 5m ahead so I got alot of speed off before we hit. Dumass was like, I saw that red car behind you but didn't see you! 130w high beam on and people who have seen me out can vouch that my jacket is friggin' bright lime green! Not alot I could do with the distance involved tho' was riding slower than I normally would have been for the conditions etc. Had my eye's on, started braking when I saw his head and hands go to turn, one flash of the indicator just before I hit.

Sounds like it is. There were some insurance writeoffs on trademe the other week and none looked as bad as yours sounds - particularly if the attending rozzer reckoned the bike looked/felt buggered up. The forks must've gone and that, along with some brackets that were attached to the frame, will do it I reckon.

Same sort of accident I had 3 weeks ago. Except you got details. The cage involved in my accident buggered off with out stopping.

    Hope you are all OK.
