I wouldn't feel comfortable riding it, too much pressure to perform. Still an awesome bike.

    Sure is pretty
Agreed It's in the same class as the Z1R TC we have at work (9300 miles in 30yrs) but it has documents to back everything up (ATP forms showing it was 8/250 of the black molly edition, APE certs for engine work, and owner history including a magazine test on the exact bike). As stated by Kawasaki officials; having the documentation sets it's price in a different league.

And you think owning a 07 speed triple puts you in a position to make assumptions about other people

As for spending big coin on a Duke I wouldn't go modern the coin would go into a classic like a Wire Wheel 900ss (below) or a Green frame 750ss ( which would have a price tag similar to the 916 SPS) or another one of these

Someone upset they over paid for something worse than a jap bike? You'll have to forgive me if I don't resent people who have the means to sink 'stupid' amounts of money into bikes. Whoever built it was obviously a keen biker, and that's good enough for me.

How much is stupid amounts? 5K on top of the price of the bike? Or more. Hmm I could have 5 pairs of Jimmy Choos for that.

I want to retract all of my earlier comments. People are entitled to their opinion that it's a waste of money, or is nothing more than a tarted up 916, or that it's ugly, or it has too much carbon, or that the motor is a hand grenade. My opinion is no more valid than anybody elses... I should be smart enough by now to accept others opinions, and not have necessarily agree/disagree, or defends anothers (the builders) actions.

Special bikes 'for all' I say, but those that don't agree, that's not a good enough reason for me to fly off the handle. Enjoy your bikes and what you do with them. I enjoy everything about biking... building, maintaining, modifying, riding... not everybody else does, for some riding is 99% of owning a bike, and I should realise that, so I apologise to anyone I heaped unnecessary abuse on.

Panther, only you can answer that question for yourself. 5 pairs of shoes or Ohlins front and rear for my bike, there's no question in my mind. If you happily choose shoes over suspension, then my opinion shouldn't matter one iota.

I was just making light of how much money i have thrown into bikes, when those amounts could easily have gone into savings, or something less frivilous, hence the joke about the shoes.

Sometimes everyone lets their passion for motorcycling overflow into who is right and who is wrong, good on you for having the insight.

Maybe you should spread the building maintaining modifying word. heh

What I probably need is some time out from this site, and to spend more time in the garage. I should come back when I've made my first carbon mudguard.

Might I suggest that it is traditional in my family (bro), to gift the first attempt at something to someone who will derive benefit from it. My poor old Tuono is afflicted with a standard guard just in case you were interested.
