Another motorcyclist dies

Hey I read this in this mornings news headlines and I'm horrified, yet another 4wd vehicle. I have to say there's something about 4wd's , this sounds much like the 4wd driver failed to see the motorbike, I hope and pray it's not one of you lot, what a tragedy, and another reminder that we are not invincible and that all of us are at risk out there on our bikes, take care all you lot out there.

Utter utter waste! Remember kiddies, think "NONE of the cagers worry if a motorbike is approaching/in my blind-spot etc" Ride like none of them have seen you even if you have right-of-way etc and it MAY just save your life.

As an aside, doesn't this highlight (well at least to me anyways) the importance of being even more aware of cages and other dangers when you have a pillion? I mean, the reactions of the boke would have been hampered by the extra weight and the center of gravity would have been shifted towards the back wheel, making a "drop 'n slide" more possible.

The other thing is we probably won't hear any more details of this accident in the papers, but I think if more details about it would come out, then more would benefit by knowing the conditions of the accident and how to avoid a similar fate.

Seriously bad news. Makes me very sad. Interesting that both bikes were involved, which certainly suggests that the 4WD driver has done something unpredictable, and without due care. It certainly would be interesting to find out. Just by coincidence I was talking to a guy last night (NOT a biker) who said that he was buying his wife a Prado, because "I know anyone else will come off second best". I gave him a piece of my mind. The thing is though, that this is a 'normal', fairly mild mannered sort of guy, which just illustrates the pervading attitude out there. Keep your eyes wide open, all the time, and always look for danger well ahead!

He's wrong anyway, and a selfish prick. His logic is that his ugly 4wd tank will crash into a bike or Fiat Bambina. There are more heavy vehicles on our roads now than ever so most likely his tank will hit another tank generating more damage than car vs car. Since 4wds lose control easier his family now have a higher chance of crash testing his logic.

Passed a Ford Exploder on the northwestern motorway yesterday. Black, with a big Stars and Stripes / eagle motif painted all over the back window. Its mere existence annoyed the *snot* out of me, for some reason... would have very much enjoyed driving past it wearing a turban, holding up an "I am a Terrorist!" card.

But just reading the original post and that the 4wd didnt see the biker. Taking it from the other side of the fence. How on earth could a biker miss seeing a huge 4wd. Its like the tin box driver that didnt see the train.

The last one I went to the dude (in his 4X4) failed to see the appraoching train that wiped the rear mounted spare off his vehicle and spun it round.
He lived 150 yards fom the level crossing and the bell/lights were going w.t.f., no wonder they can't see a motorbike

At least 4WD's kill their occupants at a higher rate than other cages,kind of karmic really.
