    Cool radar

    I have the Escort 8500. I got it from www.radarbusters.com ,
direct from USA. Works well both on the bike & car , BUT its no guarantee.
    Good Luck.

LOL, the best part is after they get pinged for speeding and you tell them the c.d.s didn't work 'cos they were recorded ones, that only brand new blank ones work and they look at you and say "shit, I'm going to get some new ones, how will you catch me then you dick, you shouldn't have told me that, dum-arse"

Not on a TL, but Hamish has done a great job of mounting the one on my 1000 - PM me if you want to hook up some time to have a look.

wouldnt this help you as it addeds more reflective surfaces to the car for your laser?

So do these detectors pick up the laser guns that the cops are using now? I've been thinking about getting one for a while now but just not sure if it's worth it.

What about mobile cameras...do they pick those up ok.

And do you point it to the front or the rear of the bike...or do you just buy two units?

    I know
but has anyone seen the spam about the spray on stuff that blocks out the camera from reading the number plate by making it higfhly reflective. Apparently

The Laser does not 'scatter' like normal radar so is harder to pick up, it can be aimed accurately (is very 'vehicle specific") hence the reason it can be used to select a single vehicle from an oncoming line of traffic, plus the operator can be hidden some distance from the Police vehicle making it harder to notice anything is amiss until it is too late.

However don't let me put you off "investing" several hundred dollars to (hopefully) save you dollars/demerits

Yip they pick up the laser guns the cops use, but once the radar has picked the laser up you are screwed cause they already will have a lock on you. The radars are only good for detecting the radar. They give you around 300 - 500m warning on speed cameras and alot more on normal radar (up to 2kms) depending on conditons etc. Ive have my Bel 985 for quite a while now. Saved me half a dozen times. As lynda said earlier in the thread its an insurance not a licence to speed and not get tickets ever.

Yip, you just mount it at the front of your bike. Ive got a bracket made from stainless by a mate that just bolts onto the mirror mount. Going to try and make a carbon fibre one sometime though

I hear you HR, going by my present rate of speeding tickets I would need to get 8 or 10 more to equal the price of one decent detector - and then it wouldn't garauntee (sp) that I won't get any more.

mine saves me at least once a day.
like last night - on the expressway at ohinewai, cruising past a primera that had earlier passed me on double yellow lines, he was is such a hurry to get to the expressway to do 100k.....just as i pulled alongside radar beeped - stregnth 2 out of 8. on the picks, pulled in behind the primera. he thought i wanted a race, so he takes off - probably 140ish. he disappears into the distance with my radar getting stronger and stronger. *imagine my surprise* when i see xmas lights come on, and his brake lites. i just HAD to toot as i went past

Some do apparently but it only tells you when you are nicked because until the lasre is aimed at you it doesn't pick anything.

Yip, thats when you need to get a jammer. They are the only way you are going to get out of being pinged by a laser gun. So with a jammer and a radar you are definately decreasing your chances of getting a ticket but still can get one.

I know the best way to not get a ticket, don't speed, now thats a novel idea
