hmmm was talking to a few of my boy racer friends and they have a good twist to it.
Yes it is illegal (according to them) - but why?
Now let say you have a car, you take the plates off and you put them in the front and back windows.... that is illegal (they have the tickets to prove it).
Their feelings being if you did the same to a bike - its also illegal as "according to one ticket" - 'Plate is not mounted on EXTERNAL surface'
So while it is visible, it is not mounted AT THE REAR of the bike.
    Clear as mud really

its only illegal in the window of your car because its not "fixed" and can be moved or "fall down" so its not visible.

you can fix a number plate anywhere facing backwards on your bike as long as its CLEARLY visible from behind, and has lights and shit.

the only thing they get pissy about most times is no rear reflector as this is a requirment for a wof.

Perhaps because they don't give a shit where you mount your numberplate for certification? Kinda like saying "I got a WOF with no oil in my engine, therefore my engine can be run just fine with no oil".

    A rule for one...

But a different set of allowances for others?
Many trailers, both for cartage and for boats, have their number plates mounted on the mudguard to the side and not on the rear of the trailer. Quite a few boat trailers also have their rego plates mounted vertically, (taken to be the same as his fathers) on the upright on either side of the boat. Why was his father made an example of?
When I was 17, I couldn't believe how stupid my Father was.

Example? He got a ticket for what he did, how does that make him an example?
