I routinely filter (at various speeds!) past guys on small cc bikes on my morning commute who are obviously getting into motorcycling and aren't keen on lane splitting yet. I have absolutely no problem with that and if I never come up behind them while they're trtying to filter, thats quite alright by me too. I'd much rather they just did their own thing at their own pace that they were comfortable with.
To blame NC30_chick for learners too stupid to know that they're a learner with limited skills is a bit daft really.

Having said that, the only bikes I wait for in traffic are
    a) those I know riding with me
    b) those that i can tell are switched on lane splitters capable of providing some pre-work entertainment!

J- where are all the nutter lane splitters on the southern in the mornings? The best bloke I've had the pleasure of playing 'catch me if you can' with was on a trumpy triple but that was only once
After seeing you at work Mr CK i don't even bother trying to keep up anymore aye

Geez guys you seem to be taking this all a bit too seriously. Just ride at your own pace or race if you want to. I'd like to think that all other riders, drivers etc are impressed with my God-like riding abilities, but they probably think I'm a prat when I lane split, take off from the lights, pick the fast line.

Besides even the best riders have shit days or blonde moments. Mind you there are some truly awful riders/drivers out there, so stay awake.

Now what was I bleating on about......

The basic rule for blokes is 'If we cant shag it - then we kill it'.

So put a bloke on a bike behind a chick and you have basically someone trying to kill themselves in an attempt to catch something they'd like to shag

You just described my manner of biking , I just seem to have lost it after my crash a few months ago. I'm going to stick on some new tyres so I'll have more than a slick at the rear. Maybe they will inspire some confidence?

Going riding with others, especially with good riders, will help your skills immensely Magua! Just follow them as best you can and learn from their riding style.
