Under rated riders

Hey everyone....

I want too just have a chat about some under rated riders (on this site) that dont get much recognition....

We constantly hear about MR this TS that WT's fucking fast etc.... and thats cool, some of it is deserved......

But there are quite a few people on here that are excellent riders/racers and dont get much recognition..... There are two that instantly come too mind.... They are Kwaka-Kid and Hoon....

Now both of these guys have talent oozing out of them and the both race in F3 class.... Hoon is now in the 1:10's on his stock (except for new rear suspension) ZXR400 which is fucking fast.... And he is only improving

Then there is Kwaka-Kid, Logo your fucking amazing making that shit heap (i hope plenty of offense was taken) that looks good do 1:10's...... You may think yeah 1:10's, thats pretty fast just like hoon...... But KK is at a disadvantage, he has done all the work on the bike himself, and being the westie he is, it is now running less than stock HP (looks fast but doesnt go fast).... he is also braking (sorry to embarrass you Logo) at the 200m mark on the back straight of Pukekohe....

Now put this into consideration, if he had a stock bike, and braked at the 130-150 mark, KK would be in the 1:08's-1:09's Which is getting to the top of F3 class with out even modding it heavily (top F3 guys with huge mods do 1:06's)

Now your thinking, yep KK is bloody fast..... well not only is he bloody fast, but he is also an awesome guy.... He will do anything to help people with bikes, he has done alot of plastic welding for Milky and I without wanting any payment (even when offered), he has also carted my Race bike multiple times down too Puke without moaning (even when i didnt race it yesterday, sorry logo)

When i get payed on Wednesday, you will have some beers coming to your house for you KK

One day i hope to have the skill of racing that both KK and Hoon Keep it up guys your doing awesome

well I'm certainly not able to pass judgement on anybodys skill/speed or otherwise, but it's good that you are putting a plug in for hoon and kk, with regards to their riding abilities and their general niceness as human beings, good stuff.
Its also nice to know that unlike most other forms of motorsport these days, it needn't nessecerily follow that only the richest dudes with the flashest machines and most qualified pit crew will take all the best times etc.

Well I have ridden with kickaha twice and he is a very tidy rider. Races a bucket and also a Duke (though I am not sure which class, and have not actually seen him on the track). Had the Mrs with us when we rode to Kaikoura and I sat behind her so she didn't feel left behind when Kickaha took off.
Also he was telling me that track newbie K14 was riding pretty well. On a bike that another rider said was possibly the worst thing he had ever ridden K14 was doing pretty well on.

Just my thoughts. I am a newbie to road riding and Quad racing (yeah yeah bloody quads, and they shouldn't even be called motorbikes I hear you say) but I am lovin them both!

Logan and Hoon are both great.Its great to see KK develop from his shaky beginnings! The one time I was talked onto the track, KK came past me in the esses so fast I thought my engine had quit! - good to watch though. Also a thoroughly nice guy - like so many of the KB community.

LooseBruce is no slouch either. He was carving up riders left right and centre in the pouring rain at Manfield yesterday.
I might even bother typing up a full summary of our 2 days of consecutive track time in a new thread sometime today.

I don't consider myself anything better than an average rider and know plenty of people who can outride me without any problems.

I am very slow to get on the pace on new bikes or tracks whereas most of those I ride with seem to get on the pace a lot faster and can swap bikes with little or no problem getting up to speed on them.

I'm considerably better than a few years ago,but I've still got a long way to go before I'd consider myself good.

Well as I see it these two guys are proof positive of how practice and dedication pay dividends in race results.
not many of you know just how much thought Hoon puts into his racing-both on the track and also off when he is taking notes of how he did ,gearing, tyre pressures etc.
That kind of thoughroughness is going to see him go a very long way.

Yeah OK you guys...but in the words of Eddie Murphy, "Get yo head outta ma ass boy!!!".

But seriously, thanks for the praises but it is kind of embarassing considering I know of plenty guys out there that could suck me up their airbox and spit me out their exhaust and it seems unfair for me to receive recognition while they are overlooked. I have the same admiration for them also so I think perception of skill is relevant to that of the observer. However I do believe it is very important to set role models and goals....... just not me OK?? hehe

What I have done can be acheived by anyone - I don't have the raw talent that others possess so I have to compensate with my other strengths instead. For me this is prep, planning and efficiency. I'm a firm believer that theres no point attempting something unless you are willing to give it 100%. When I plan my "path" I approach it like a video game that I've just finished and now I'm playing it again trying to complete it in the quickest and most efficient way possible. This dictates everything I do and makes it very easy to see what I need to do next or when I'm deviating from the path (especially with limited $$$).

We all have strengths and weaknesses. KK has talent and youth but his prep skills need some work Frosty has aggression and enthusiasm but holds back sometimes.

I guess my advice to anyone is play to your strengths but also identify and address your weaknesses too as these will limit your full potential.
